• Maggie Sweet from Silent No More will fill us in on what is happening with this
  apostolate associated with Prists for Life.  Hear her amazing story as told at the March for Life in 2012.
• We are in another election cycle.  What candidates are carrying the pro-life banner? What do we need to do to secure the governors mansion for four more years.  What pro-life legislation will be in the hopper for the next legislative session?  Mike McMonagle will answer these and all your questions about the doings in Harrisburg.
• With an election in the offing, we will have another 40 Days for Life campaign.  Mary Paris will give us an update on the preparations.

On Saturday, September 13^th, pro-life Americans will honor the memory of the more than 50 million unborn victims of abortion during the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children.

Solemn prayer services will be held simultaneously at gravesites around the country where abortion victims have been buried, as well as at many other memorial sties dedicated in their honor.

Why Sitting Out the Election This Fall Isn't a Good Idea

"Wake me up when the election is over!" 

That's the attitude of some Pennsylvanians this year, who are frustrated with the political process.  They see bills that languished in the state legislature ... politicians with disappointing remarks and records ... and an economy that doesn't meet expectations.

Why bother to vote in the midst of all this angst? 

Here are the top five reasons you should be voting on November 4th: 

1.)  The Governor.  Governors matter a great deal in Pennsylvania. Consider that the Kermit Gosnell grand jury says that the pro-abortion stands of Governors Tom Ridge and Ed Rendell kept them from having abortion facilities inspected for years. A pro-life Governor is critical for safeguarding the health and safety of women and children in the Commonwealth. 

2.)  The state legislature. Pennsylvania currently boasts bipartisan, pro-life majorities in the PA House of Representatives and Senate.  But one election could end the pro-life advantage, ensuring that no pro-life legislation will pass in PA.  For the sake of women and babies in the Keystone State, we need to maintain a pro-life mindset in the General Assembly. 

3.)  Congress. Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation is "pro-life strong" thanks to the fact that the vast majority of our Representatives in Congress are pro-life.  A pro-life Congress is the only thing stopping the Obama Administration from further trampling the rights of unborn children.  

4.)  Civic duty. Our brave men and women in uniform have fought and died for our freedoms -- including the freedom to make our voices heard in elections.  We owe it to them -- and to our nation -- to exercise our right to vote. 

5.)  Our faith. All major faiths hold that believers have a duty to help others -- especially the most vulnerable among us.  Your vote could make the difference in the life of a woman and her unborn child. 

So, no matter the temptation, please do not sit out this election!  A vote is a terrible thing to waste.

1. Annual National Remembrance for Aborted Children in Waco Pro-Life Waco will participate in the National Remembrance for Aborted Children on the weekend of September 13/14. Nationally, the event is coordinated by Priests for Life and the Pro-Life Action League. Rachel’s Park Memorial at 4702 N. 19th Street is one of 43 gravesites in the U. S., which holds the remains of an aborted baby. On this weekend, you are invited to go out to this site to pray and show your respect for this baby lost to abortion. Rachel’s Park Memorial has been a location that has brought healing and reconciliation to many who have been involved in an abortion. You can’t miss Rachel’s Park with the 4,000 small white crosses. The Pro-Life Waco Second Sunday meeting on September 14 (1-2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish hall) will also remember and honor the over 50 million babies nationwide and close to 20 thousand in Waco lost to abortion. 2. 2nd Sunday September 14, with Dr. Joe Pojman of TAL. I can hardly wait for our Second Sunday Pro-Life Gathering on September 14. Our speaker will be Dr. Joe Pojman, the founding director of Texas Alliance for Life in Austin. At TAL, Joe has been the top architect for recent Texas pro-life legislation—the strongest in the nation. The 2013 Texas law (filibustered by Senator Wendy Davis) is currently challenged in federal court in Austin. By September Second Sunday that decision should be rendered. Joe will give us the inside scoop about court proceedings plus the possible moves in the 2015 legislative session. Come out and listen to Joe. Thank him for his hard and effective work. Clearly the pro-life laws past in 2011 and 2013 were instrumental in ending the shedding of innocent blood in Waco in August of 2013. Isn’t it wonderful to remember that the Planned Parenthood holocaust has ended in Waco? You know the routine on Second Sunday.  The meeting from 1-2 p.m. will be preceded by food and fellowship during the noon hour. Just $3 for adults. Children and first-time attendees are free. 3. Sept. 14 demonstration for Austin Planned Parenthood fundraising banquet. Pro-Life Waco is again organizing a demonstration for the Austin Planned Parenthood fundraising banquet at the Hyatt Regency Austin Hotel (208 Barton Springs Road). The demonstration will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 14. A carpool (a van if we have enough) will depart for Austin from the St. Mary’s Waco parking lot at 2:20 p.m. (No charge.) You can come to Second Sunday and then join the fun by going on to Austin. We will be meeting pro-life friends from the Austin area and hopefully Houston and other cities. We will be demonstrating on the public sidewalks at the entrance on Barton Spring. Signs will be available. Aborted baby signs will be included this year. We believe the Austin elite who enthusiastically support the shedding of innocent blood should see this reality. After the demonstration, we will go to a nearby restaurant for fellowship and a meal provided by Pro-Life Waco. Vote Pro-Life campaign in Waco. This week we are launching the campaign in full force with billboards and yard signs. We already have a Vote Pro-Life billboard message up at Franklin Ave. at about 16th Street. By the end of this week we will have 6 junior billboards with the same message in the greater Waco area. And most importantly, there are yard signs that say “Vote Pro-Life.” Signs are free.  Your can pick yours up at my front doorstep facing Grim Ave @ 4200 Grim Avenue. 5. Hometown Pro-Life Action on Facebook. Finally, the Facebook group I launched has been quite a success. There are over 1300 members! Many informative postings for hometown pro-life action. NFP: When Is It Permissible to Avoid Pregnancy?

On Facebook, I’m in several Natural Family Planning (NFP) groups, and the same question pops up on a regular basis:  “What reasons justify using NFP to avoid pregnancy, according to the teaching of the Church? Is there a list?”

I’ve scoured encyclicals, papal letters and addresses, and several scholarly tomes on the subject, I’m confident that I can provide the list of reasons, sanctioned by the Catholic Church, in which a couple may licitly use NFP to avoid pregnancy. Here is the list:

You can stop highlighting now — that space is intentionally blank.

Why? Because there is no list. The Catholic Church does not have one for a reason.

• The Church provides guidelines, and leaves the actual reasons up to the individual couple’s discernment.

• The Church has not outsourced the job of compiling a list to Catholic bloggers.

• The Church does not require that the couple consult a priest, deacon, or other spiritual director. Although, it’s always a wise idea to discuss one’s discernment process with a faithful spiritual director or orthodox, holy priest, it’s not required for couples to do so in order to use NFP to avoid pregnancy and remain in good standing with the church.

• The Church does not require that couples adhere to a faulty translation of Humanae Vitae when engaging in their discernment.

• The Church does not now, nor has She ever, considered NFP a heresy. For anyone who wants to challenge me on that point, please read the linked article first, and then you can explain to me why you oppose the teachings of Blessed Pope Pius IX, Pope Leo XIII, Pope St. Pius X, Pope Benedict XV, and Pope Pius XI (among others). Also, please don’t take any quotes from St. John Vianney’s “The Cure’D’Ars” out of context.

Northern Ireland Considers Allowing Killing Disabled Unborn Babies: Pro-lifers Condemn

The government is proposing allowing the killing of pre-born babies suspected of being disabled and those conceived through rape or incest.

Northern Ireland’s leading pro-life group, Precious Life, has condemned this week's announcement by Justice Minister David Ford that a consultation on changing the abortion law will be "ready by autumn." The government is considering allowing the killing of pre-born babies suspected of being disabled and those conceived through rape or incest.

“Abortion is a serious criminal offence in Northern Ireland,” said the director of Precious Life, Bernadette Smyth. “The law here protects unborn babies, and David Ford as Minister for Justice must ensure that all children are legally protected."

Last December, Ford revealed he would be undertaking a consultation to consider changes to the law after he heard the stories of two women, who complained that they had not been allowed to abort their babies who had been diagnosed with anencephaly. Instead, they said, they had traveled to Britain for abortions.

Abortion was refused under Northern Ireland’s laws because the diagnosis of anencephaly for the child poses no medical threat to the mother.

Reducing Maternal Mortality in Nigeria‏

Nigeria’s population of 177 million is a red flag for population controllers

With its vast natural resources, the African country of Nigeria has the wherewithal to lift itself out of poverty without foreign help. If it would put its oil money to work educating its population, building a first-rate infrastructure, and creating an industrial base, it could be another Japan.

But the West is trying to impose another agenda on the African giant. Instead of encouraging industrialization, the West talks about “sustainable development” (read: slow or no development). Instead of urging it to expand its petroleum industry, the West talks about “reducing carbon emissions.” Instead of suggesting the building of schools, the West talks up the need for more family planning clinics. And instead of helping to reduce infant and child mortality, the West continues to pour money into programs to reduce the birth rate.

Of course, the UNFPA doesn’t say, in so many words, that they want fewer Nigerian children to be born. That would be politically incorrect. Instead they claim that they are interested in reducing maternal mortality.

The women of Nigeria could certainly use help in this area. The average Nigerian woman has a one in thirty chance of dying in childbirth.[1] The most common causes of death for Nigerian women are hemorrhage (bleeding) or infection of the genital areas, which leads to fever, peritonitis, and death.[2]

Western aids agencies argue that the best way to fight maternal mortality is not by improving access to quality healthcare for women, but by fighting maternity itself by chemically and surgically sterilizing women.

Defunding Planned Parenthood‏

Just recently a young woman from Texas was faced with the harsh truth about Planned Parenthood and their real motives.

This University of Houston Texas student discovered she was pregnant and was in need of regular medical attention.

The Planned Parenthood super center is located very close to the university, so her parents suggested that she go into the center for a regular checkup since their daughter had no health insurance.

I suppose they were naive, but little did they know that their young daughter would be in the hands of pro-abortion advocates.

The student, alongside her fiancé, walked into the abortion clinic thinking that Planned Parenthood would help.

To their surprise Planned Parenthood staff at first refused to do anything unless she paid for the medical exams upfront. Finally after a two hour wait, a Planned Parenthood employee asked the student a question she never imagined.

"Do you want to have an abortion if you're pregnant?" asked the Planned Parenthood employee.

When the student and her fiancé made it clear that she was not there for an abortion, she was summarily dismissed and invited not to return.

It is not hard to imagine how many other pregnant young women walk into a Planned Parenthood facility seeking medical help, but lacking conviction in tough circumstances, allow themselves to be enticed to kill their babies -- a decision that they will regret for the rest of their lives.

Clearly the financial plug needs to be pulled from Planned Parenthood.

One million taxpayer dollars a day to this abortion giant is one million dollars a day too much.

Now both the pressure to cut the budget, combined with the outrage over Planned Parenthood’s tactics make this a perfect time to end tax funding of abortion.

THAT is probably the number one question I am most often asked, after “Don’t you people have a job?” People are funny…

Yesterday, a woman said that her friend confessed to having an abortion many, many years ago and can’t get past the ‘past’. She asked my opinion of what to tell her, and here it is: JESUS.

In my mind’s eye, I see a crucified Jesus dying on a cross for me…bloodied, bludgeoned, humiliated. He died a public death for ME and my sinful past that cannot be erased from my memory or the history that others insist on remembering, you know….just in case I forgot ;)

My Faith is in my risen LORD. It is His shed Blood which washed my sin away never to be remembered again. Then, it is up to ME to rest in His finished work on the Cross, that I AM FORGIVEN and that NO ONE can take that away from me. EVER.
