Philly Archbishop: Cult of Abortion Is ‘Subtle Genocide Posing as Rights’

"Nowhere was the aggressively secular agenda more evident [in Obama's administration] than in the matter of abortion and
religious freedom."

By Thomas D. Williams, Ph.D.
Breitbart

"The humanity of the unborn child is obvious on any ultrasound machine,” writes Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput in an invigorating new book.
A redoubtable evangelizer and culture warrior, Chaput lays out a road map for living the Christian faith in a post-Christian world in his new work Strangers in a Strange Land, due for release on February 21.

Though the Archbishop deals with a multitude of topics from the decay of modern democracies to millennials’ dread of commitment, his words on abortion ring with particular force on a day when tens of thousands march on Washington DC in defense of the right to life.

Chaput notes that important strides have been made in the past half century and that today “many American young people are more committedly pro-life than their parents and even their grandparents.”

“This seems ironic, but it shouldn’t surprise,” he observes. “They’ve seen what abortion does. They’ve lived with the fact that they could have been aborted. The humanity of the unborn child is obvious on any ultrasound machine.”
Still, Chaput argues, a fear of living “outside the cone of public approval” leads many to shirk their personal responsibility for changing society. In the case of abortion, “many of us are happy to live with half-truths and ambiguity rather than risk being cut out of the herd. The culture of lies thrives on our own complicity, lack of courage, and self- deception.”

The Archbishop also assails “chronic newsroom prejudice” in the shaping of certain kinds of news, especially in the abortion debate, as evidenced by the wildly imbalanced coverage of the pro-abortion Women’s March on Washington this week as compared with the annual March for Life.

Thus, “Planned Parenthood is assumed good, while critics who secretly film its cynicism, profiteering, and barbarism are assumed bad,” he notes.

Eric Metaxas Blasts Media at March for Life:

‘You want to see the women of America? Here they are.’

by Lianne Laurence

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 27, 2017 - Eric Metaxas blasted the mainstream media at today’s March for Life for its bias against the pro-life movement, punctuating his brief address with the question: “ABC News, are you covering this?”

“Jesus is Lord. ABC News are you covering that? ABC News, are you covering this? You want to see the women of America? Here they are,” declared the New York Times bestselling author, radio host and well-known Christian commentator, in a speech replete with wide-ranging references to history and current events.

“The media in America has not told the other side of the story, that women have been the victims of abortion and that abortion hurts women,” Metaxas told the hundreds of thousands of people gathered at the Washington Mall for the 44th annual March for Life.

NFL Player Ben Watson Tells March for Life: “We Must End the Unthinkable Practice of Abortion”

“Men, We Can Be Silent No More.”

By Micaiah Bilger
Life News

Joining hundreds of thousands of people at the March for Life today is NFL star Ben Watson.

The Baltimore Ravens tight end has been using his fame not to speak for himself but to speak up for the most vulnerable lives in America – babies in the womb.

“Abortion will not end until men stand up” for women and babies in the womb, Watson challenged the crowd during the 44th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. “We must end the unthinkable practice of abortion in the United States of America.”

While abortion activists try to silence pro-life men, Watson urged men to be an even stronger voice in the movement. A husband and father of five children, he challenged men to support and protect women’s and children’s rights and lives to the fullest extent of their abilities.
“Men, it is time we rise up [in] the pro-life movement. Men, we cannot be silent anymore,” Watson said. “As important as women have been in championing this cause, you men, us men, must rise up and lead the charge.”
“Even if it wasn’t demonstrated for you by a father, you can be different, you can change the course of generation,” he added. “Men, we can be silent no more.”
Many of his powerful remarks were posted on Twitter and other social media, including this one: “Let us remember the power of loving kindness. Being #prolife is a way of life!”

“Looking out, I see a sea of collective humanity, but looking closer I see individuals who have their own spheres of influence,” he said.
“This is the power of one. It is the power of influence, to influence people in our neighborhoods in our churches, in our workplaces on our teams,” Watson said. “It is also the power to unite as we have today as one, for a common cause to end the unthinkable practice of abortion in America.”

When I Was Pregnant and Scared, Planned Parenthood Refused to Help Me

"We can’t help you if you want to keep the kid.”

By Summer Burton
Live Action News

I remember it like it was yesterday. I was supposed to be on a date, but a quick trip to Wal-Mart and one positive pregnancy test later, I told my boyfriend to drop me off at my house. I went straight to my room and sat there for hours, trying to come up with a solution for this unplanned baby I was now carrying.

What was I going to do?

I didn’t know the first thing about being a mom, and furthermore, I had never really wanted kids. I liked kids, sure, but I didn’t spend my teenage years dreaming about what my future husband and I would name our kids or how many we would have.

I had plans: I was going to travel, maybe go back to school, maybe move to a random city and “discover myself,” as so many 21-year-olds do. Yet here I was — an uninsured, college-dropout, working part time at a coffee shop, with no real direction in life, who drove a car that broke down every few weeks, who also wasn’t married. This could not be happening to me!

The next day, I broke the news to my best friend, who was no stranger to unplanned pregnancies, and I asked her what I should do. She came over immediately and talked to me for a few minutes. She told me I didn’t have to have this baby if I didn’t want to and that it was my right and my choice to end the pregnancy.

I had heard that before — seen it on billboards even: “It’s your body, it’s your right!” It sounded like it was supporting women’s rights, and I was in support of women’s rights. So why did it seem so unfathomable to me that it might actually be okay if I ended this pregnancy?

I remember growing up thinking abortion was wrong, but I never fully grasped the concept until I had to face an unplanned pregnancy head on. For a split second, it seemed so clear why women would have an abortion. They could make this all go away without anyone else finding out. But I knew in my heart it was the wrong choice.
As a Christian, I knew what God said about the sanctity of life. I fast-forwarded my life in my head, pondering the idea of how killing my own child would haunt me forever.

Trump Spokesman: White House Staff Will Attend the March for Life

By Steven Ertelt
Life News

During the March for Life in previous years, pro-abortion President Barack Obama celebrated abortion and issued a presidential statement praising Roe vs. Wade.

What a difference a change in president makes.

Yesterday, a spokesman for President Donald Trump indicated White House staff will attend the March for Life, where over half-a-million pro-life people from around the country will mourn the almost 60 million unborn children who have been aborted since that fateful Supreme Court decision.

Trump spokesman Sean Spicer indicated top advisor Kellyanne Conway will attend the March as well other White House staff. Spicer told reporters at Tuesday’s briefing that there will be a “heavy administration presence” at the March for Life, which will be on Friday.

“I know Kellyanne [Conway] is going to attend the event,” Spicer said in response to a question from a reporter about the pro-life protest. “I think we’re stilling working through the details, but we’ll have further information about the President’s potential participation in that.”

“I think it’s no secret the President has campaigned as a pro-life president it’s something that’s very important to him, as evidenced from that Mexico City Policy reinstatement that he issued yesterday,” he added. “We’ll obviously have heavy administration presence there.”

58 Bells for the Unborn - A Powerful Pro-Life Video

From the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

Over 58 million lives have been lost since Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided. A number that large is very difficult to conceptualize, but this video, played at the beginning of the Oregon March for Life on Sunday, January 22nd, does a powerful job of representing what that many lives lost looks like.
