After Hour Abortions

From Marjorie Dannenfelser
President, Susan B. Anthony List

I just got off the phone with Mary and Christina from our office. They are on their way back from Delaware where this morning, three former Planned Parenthood employees testified before state legislators.

Their testimony was revealing… Not only did the Planned Parenthood of Delaware clinic perform an obscene amount of abortions, but they showed an utter lack of concern for the health and safety of the young, poor women.

Do you remember the disturbing testimony from a few months ago? We heard about Dr. Liveright’s habit of performing abortions without gloves and without cleaning the operating table between patients – some abortions happening in the blood and fluid from the last.

I didn’t think anything could shock me after that, but Mary and Christina started tweeting out the testimony from the former manager of the Planned Parenthood of Delaware clinic. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

Not only was the clinic overwhelming their staff with the absurd amount of abortions on a daily basis, but apparently their work wasn’t limited to normal office hours.

Abortionist Eric Schaff performed abortions “after hours” without any support medical staff (although the daytime workers were poorly trained – if they were trained at all). His hubris took the lives of women into his hands. It’s sheer arrogance. Who knows how many women were injured?

But that’s not the most shocking news from the testimony … at least one representative of Planned Parenthood Federation of America – the national organization – knew that these after hours abortions were occurring. Complaints from staff and management made their way into the national organization’s system. They did nothing.

Planned Parenthood may be leading the public relations campaign to call Kermit Gosnell a rogue abortionist – but they chose to remain silent to the problems inside their own clinics!

The consequences of this – of championing abortion under the guise of health care for women – will prove tragic in state after state.

Iff Mary and Christina hadn’t been at the hearing today, I’m not sure how I would have found out the details – that is why it was so important we were there today, and this is why our efforts to expose the abortion industry’s abuses are so important. If we don’t, who will?

This story has the potential to explode, just like the Gosnell trial did – if only we push hard enough!

Even the women testifying today kept repeating how many similarities there are between the cases.

We can’t let abuses from the abortion industry go unnoticed. America needs to know that Planned Parenthood and the rest of the abortion industry are not the defenders of women they claim to be.

Aborting justice over dead bodies

In our society, an entire group of people are dismissed and denied the most basic right – the right to life. And, day after day, laws are continually formed and twisted so that preborn babies are thought of as nothing and discarded as trash. A society cannot function when so many members are thrown away.

Nancy Pelosi: Women don’t deserve ‘burden of child care’

The “burden of child care” formerly known as motherhood has no place in a society where women should be out earning a living, according to Nancy Pelosi.

In an interview with National Public Radio that aired over the weekend, the House minority leader and California Democrat discussed her latest program, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families.”

Pro-Lifers Launch ‘March on the Media’ to Expose Biased Abortion Coverage

The pro-life advocacy organization Live Action has announced the launch of a “March on the Media” campaign to expose the biased coverage of abortion exemplified by the murder trial of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell earlier this year.
The media campaign will culminate in mass protests in front of the headquarters of the mainstream media’s “Big Three” television networks: ABC, CBS, and NBC.

Planned Parenthood Will Run Federal Data Hub With Private Patient Info

by Elise Hilton

Undoubtedly, we live in an era where personal privacy is difficult to maintain. Even if you choose not to have a Facebook account or Tweet madly, you still know that your medical records are on-line somewhere, that your bank account is only a hack away from being emptied, and that cell phone records are now apparently government domain. But it gets worse.

Enter the Federal Data Hub, which will give the government access to “reams of personal information compiled by federal agencies ranging from the IRS to the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration”, guarded and navigated by an army of “patient navigators.”

The federal government is planning to quietly enact what could be the largest consolidation of personal data in the history of the republic,” Paul Howard of the Manhattan Institute and Stephen T. Parente, a University of Minnesota finance professor, wrote inUSA Today. No wonder that there are concerns about everything from identity theft to the ability of navigators to use the system to register Obamacare participants to vote. And…it gets even worse.

One group acting as “patient navigators” will be Planned Parenthood:

When Do Humans Begin to Feel Pain?

By James D. Agresti

The U.S. House Of Representatives recently passed a bill that would restrict abortions starting at 20 weeks after fertilization, or the stage of development shown in the picture below. Formally called the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act,” the legislation has stirred debate over when humans begin to feel pain. The act passed with 97% of Republicans voting for it, and 97% of Democrats voting against it. President Obama has issued a veto threat.

The bill states “there is substantial medical evidence that an unborn child is capable of experiencing pain at least by 20 weeks after fertilization, if not earlier.” However, Dr. Stuart Derbyshire, the director of Pain Imaging at the U.K.’s University of Birmingham and a frequently cited authority on this issue, has affirmed that humans cannot truly feel pain until one year after birth. Contrastingly, Dr. Maureen Condic, an associate professor of neurobiology and anatomy at the University of California, Berkeley, recently testified before a congressional subcommittee that humans feel pain “in some capacity” starting “from as early as 8 weeks of development.”

In sorting out these conflicting assertions and others on the continuum between them, there are certain scientific facts about human development that provide a basic foundation for understanding this issue:

• In the 6th and 7th weeks after fertilization, the brain’s “cerebral hemispheres and cerebellum are developing.” [Gray's Anatomy: The Anatomical Basis of Medicine and Surgery]

• By 7 weeks, pain “sensory receptors appear in the perioral [mouth] area.” [New England Journal of Medicine]

• By 10 weeks, “All components of the brain and spinal cord are formed, and nerves link the stem of the brain and the spinal cord to all tissues and organs of the body.” [Encyclopedia of Human Biology]

• By 12 weeks, “the fetus sucks its thumb, kicks, makes fists and faces, and has the beginnings of baby teeth.” [Human Genetics: Concepts and Applications]

• By 14 weeks, “Limb movements, which occur at the end of the embryonic period (8 weeks), become coordinated….” [Before We Are Born: Essentials of Embryology and Birth Defects]

• By 16 weeks, “Eye movements begin.” [Embryology: Board Review Series]

• By 18 weeks, pain sensory receptors spread to “all cutaneous [skin] and mucous surfaces….” [New England Journal of Medicine]

• By 20 weeks, the fetus “now sleeps and wakes and hears sounds.” [American Medical Association Complete Medical Encyclopedia]

City Ordinance Petition Banning Late-term Abortions Close to Goal in Albuquerque

Albuquerque, NM – A unique attempt at banning late-term abortions through the petition process at the city level is close to reaching its goal of 12,000 signatures in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a city that is now known as the Late-term Abortion Capital of the U.S.

The effort, spearheaded by Bud and Tara Shaver of Project Defending Life, has already submitted over 11,000 signatures, just 1,000 shy of those needed by July 25 to place the initiative on the ballot in October.

If successful, Albuquerque would become the first city in America to ban abortions after 20 weeks gestation.
“These late term abortions are very risky for women,” petition organizer Tara Shaver said. “So ultimately we see women and their children will be protected as a result of this initiative.”

HISPANIC PRO-LIFE CONGRESS TO TAKE PLACE IN DALLAS

By Seth Gonzales
Texas Catholic

Organizers said they are expecting at least 2,000 participants will be in attendance for the third Hispanic Congress of the Americas for Pro-Life and Evangelization, a three-day event set to take place at the Plano Centre Aug. 16-18. The bi-annual event, which is organized by the Catholic Pro-Life Committee, is open to the public and will feature prominent cardinals, bishops and lay speakers from across the country.

“The Catholic Pro-life Committee has done a tremendous job in creating a dynamic pro-life movement in North Texas and our diocese is very blessed to have such a large Hispanic Catholic community,” said Dallas Bishop Kevin J. Farrell, who is scheduled to preside over the congress’ opening Mass. “It is my great hope that Latino Catholics, who bring so much to the church in Dallas, will attend this third congress in greater numbers than ever to join in the critical work of protecting the unborn.”

Boston Archbishop Cardinal Sean O’Malley and Houston/Galveston Archbishop Cardinal Daniel DiNardo are also scheduled to lead Masses during the event.

Gosnell Victims Denied Burial

Ever since the “House of Horrors” Gosnell trial ended in May, the city of Philadelphia has kept in its possession the 3 babies that Gosnell was convicted of murdering, in addition to 42 other pre-born babies the District Attorney had found stuffed in milk jugs, paper boxes, and jars in Gosnell's abortuary, according to Kristan Hawkins of Students for Life.

Even though Pennsylvania law requires that the bodies of unclaimed persons may be claimed by a member of the community, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health has refused to allow pro-life activists to claim these tiny bodies and give them a decent burial. Representatives from Students for Life, Priests for Life, the Christian Defense Coalition, and other leaders from Stand True and the Alliance Defending Freedom are in Philadelphia trying to claim these abortion victims according to Kristan Hawkins, Students for Life. Kristan further reports that they were denied entrance into the Medical Examiner's Office, a public building, last Friday. “As they saw us approaching, they locked the doors on us and told us that we weren't allowed in because we were not a grieving family,” she says. And yet, do we not all grieve for these millions of pre-born infants from our human family who will never take a breath or see the light of day?

Why would the pro-aborts be so adamant that these babies should not be buried? Kristan believes it’s because “You don't bury a "collection of cells "or a "clump of tissue" – you bury a human being, a person. And our simple request, to give dignity to the babies Gosnell murdered, exposes the fundamental flaw in 'pro-choice' logic.”

arrowHere is how YOU can help these courageous pro-lifers in their quest for a proper burial for these murdered babies:
  1. Please call the Philadelphia Medical Examiners’ Office (215-685-7445) and demand that they release the babies for a proper burial.
  2. Please consider joining many national pro-life organizations on August 25th and 26th in Philadelphia for our national "A Cry for Dignity" event. Still in the planning stages, a few details can be found here, with more updates to come.

ABORTION BACKER MELISSA HARRIS-PERRY: LIFE BEGINS WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE IT DOES

by Cassy Fiano

The worldwide excitement over the royal baby has seemingly upset pro-aborts, who feel the need to break and in and remind everyone that they shouldn’t be so excited, because ABORTION! It’s as if they took a class on how to rain on someone’s parade. Only in the pro-abortion world would it be considered good form to celebrate the birth of a baby by talking about how more babies need to be killed in utero.

One of the most ludicrous examples of the royal baby-abortion phenomenon comes from MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry, who you may remember as the anchor who wore tampon earrings. She’s also a recipient of Planned Parenthood’s Maggie Award, so you know that she’s really drinking the Kool-Aid.

When Harris-Perry decided to weigh in on the fervor surrounding the royal baby, of course she had to talk about how not every baby is wanted. We can’t have people get too excited about pregnancy and babies, now can we? She then decided to show off her rather unique brand of logic, where it isn’t science that determines when life begins — your feelings do.

Cassy Fiano is a blogger currently living in North Carolina with her husband, a United States Marine. They have a toddler named Ben, and a second son named Wyatt, who has Down syndrome.

MARCH ON THE MEDIA: A Project of Life Action

Do you think the mainstream media is reporting fairly on the issue of life? Well, Live Action has had enough of their biased reporting and censorship of the news. So we're taking the message to their front doors: stop flinching from the abortion debate. Stop playing politics. Report the human rights abuses both babies and women suffer every day at the hands of America's abortionists. Do your job!

Keep an eye out next week for details on the March, and join us if you can! In the meantime, visit our website and sign the petition to stop the abortion censorship. Read the letters Lila Rose wrote to ABC, CBS, and NBC. Check out the Media Research Center's huge body of research on mainstream media bias in our country.

To the "big three" media distributors: it's time to tell the truth about abortion. We're telling you now in writing...and we'll tell you again in person.

Students Sign Petition to Legalize 4th Trimester Abortion

Once again, MRCTV's Dan Joseph went to a college campus and asked students to sign a petition. This time the goal was to get people to show their support for legalizing 4th trimester abortion.

For those of you who failed biology, babies are born at the END of the 3rd trimester. For those of you who didn't, watch this....

Baby Not Welcomed

by C.L. Paur

Celebrating the birth of a new royal baby this week. Probably lots of babies being born this week that didn't make it in the news. Probably a lot of babies that didn't make it at all. Life that is....

Our culture suffers from a strange dichotomy of sorts. We want babies, but they have to fit into our lives, much like a new piece of furniture. "What corner will this fit into?"

And of course, one or two kids max--unless a third one pops in accidentally. You know, "That accident" (such an esteem builder when parents tell their kids they're accidents).

I've talked about this before. Some might even think I've brought this subject up ad nauseum. But day in and day out we're being bombarded with the message that only "wanted" children are accepted children.

Just happened the other night. We were watching Disney's "Dog With a Blog." I love that show, though it has its weaknesses. But my daughters and I were very disappointed with the episode when the kids thought their parents were going to have a new baby. Stan, the dog, who talks only to the children, is sent to spy on the parents. Confusing their conversation, he tells the children the "new addition" will be a new child.

Tyler and Chloe fantasize on how the new baby will enhance their lives. Tyler dreams the new baby will attract more girls. Chloe dreams about baby chicks. Avery, the sensible one, tells them the baby is a bad idea.

In the end they discover Mom only wanted a new addition with her own bathroom and Dad wanted a boat.

What a message. "What's in it for me?" And if the answer is nothing, then don't have a baby....

We forget so quickly that we were zygotes, fetuses, newborns, infants, children, teens, adults.... Maybe we were "accidents" as well. We had poopy diapers, kept our parents up into the night with tears, threw tantrums, spilt milk, broke a vase, ended up in the emergency room, kept our parents up into the night with worry, and on and on.

JOE POJMAN (TEXAS ALLIANCE FOR LIFE) TO SPEAK AT AUGUST 2ND SUNDAY IN WACO

From John, Director
Pro-Life Waco

Mark your calendar or enter an event on your digital whatever for Sunday, August 11.

Of course, that is Second Sunday Pro-Life luncheon/meeting in Waco. The big news is Dr. Joe Pojman will dine with us and deliver a presentation on the past and future of HB2 Texas pro-life legislation. Dr. Joe is the Director of the Texas Alliance for Life in Austin. Joe leads a coalition of pro-life groups working for pro-life laws in Texas and is the #1 strategist outside the circle of pro-life legislators. Come and learn about HB2 in ways you won’t read or see in the press.

Regarding the press, there was a major article in the Waco Trib about whether HB2 would bring the closure of the PP killing center in Waco.

Read it here at http://www.wacotrib.com

Just in case you have not heard, just days ago Planned Parenthood announced the closing at the end of August of clinics in Lufkin, Huntsville, and Bryan/College Station.  The latter includes an abortuary that was managed by the now pro-life Abby Johnson. Hat off to all who works and pray so hard over the years to bring about these woman and baby protecting results.

Events of recent weeks in Texas give us much encouragement—but not a single reason to slow down hometown pro-life outreach & ministry. For the second half of 2013 Pro-Life Waco will fight harder than ever!

We have been in a battle against the seductive evil of Planned Parenthood for nearly two decades.  Let us persevere for God’s blessing of the closing PP.

MAJOR PAPERS REJECT PRO-LIFE AD – IMAGE OF BABY “TOO CONTROVERSIAL”

by Caleb Parke

A national pro-life organization is outraged after three major American newspapers rejected a pro-life ad as “too controversial.”

The Chicago Tribune, USA Today, and the LA Times refused to run an advertisement created by Heroic Media.

The ad features a hand holding a 20- to 24-week-old baby with the quote, “This child has no voice, which is why it depends on yours. Speak Up.”

Heroic Media Executive Director Joe Young said he was shocked and angered that the media outlets were willing to talk about the issue but were unwilling to show the reality of life at 20 weeks.

“I am disturbed that these papers would run article after article promoting the notion that abortion is a victimless act without consequences,” Young said. “The fact remains, children who are unique individuals – never again to be duplicated – are being killed in the most violent way imaginable and they feel the excruciating pain of that death.”

The newspapers took issue with the image of the baby.

Chastised for Being Humane.

By Nancy Oliver

I see over and over the gripe from this side and that of the abortion or prolife issues. One thing I don’t see much of is the subject of how women are viewed when they make choices that are humane and compassionate. Whether they are cut out for wiping noses or have the means to buy the Kleenex to wipe the noses, I know of many cases where women have given up their rights to their child for adoption. In so many of those cases I hear the derogatory comments of how “rotten” that woman is for doing so. It is a very hard choice when you love and/or respect life so much you would give that child a chance at a good life by giving it up, whether to the other parent or for adoption.
Life does not come in perfect slices of jellied bread. Some things we can help by our own actions---some are out of our hands. I know of life stories where mom had to do something she did not want to do for the sake of her children.
I know of one young lady from Ireland who sought to walk across America. I forget the cause and her last name, but her first was Fiona. She had her crew of publicist and drivers of a motor home that followed her. This was back in the late 80’s. They stayed at a campground I managed for several days until the distance became closer to stay at another.
I had a rather liberal friend who was not only a member of the resort I managed but also the neighbor to the grounds. Sandy is her name…last I will keep to myself. Sandy even though much more adventurous let us say than I ever was and very liberal in her thinking was indeed pro life and raised her two children.
Fiona traveled with nothing but men and one was one she got intimate with. Fiona confided in us that she was pregnant by one of them. She told us he wanted her to abort that pregnancy. Sandy came unglued. Fiona shut down and I could tell she did. My own conscience mirrored Sandy’s on this matter but I took a different approach. I told Fiona it was her choice but that choice she would live with for the rest of her life. I understood her aspirations “but she made that choice to follow her dreams just as she made the choice to get pregnant. It’s not our choice, Fiona…you make it,” I recall my last words as I got up from sitting on the picnic table with Sandy and Fiona.

Sandy could not believe what I said! She came running after me following me to the office asking why I said that. I had to admit I really wanted to lecture but something told me not to. As it turned out months later, I got a letter from Fiona in the mail and enclosed was a picture of her adorable new born daughter. She told me she was so glad that I made her think twice about it. Maybe it was that she felt the need for girl talk as to what tipped me off she indeed had a big heart and conscience. I don’t know but I do know she gave up her dream some miles later as well for the sake of that unborn baby.

I know of others who have made hard choices to give up children they loved to their ex’s or families of or strangers looking to adopt. It’s a very honorable thing to do in my opinion. I cringe when I hear derogatory remarks made from the narrow minded people. Perhaps it is the reason why some choose not to give their child up to adoption but to just abort it and forget it. Perhaps there are some who just don’t want to go through it. But, I would like to ask all of those to think hard…very hard on that choice because it is one that they can never make right again. I also ask that we think long and hard like Fiona did before we make that statement of how awful that mother is for giving up her child.
