Pro-Life - 10 Arguments Against Abortion

Pro-Life - 10 Arguments Against Abortion

  1. Since life begins at conception, abortion is akin to murder as it is the act of taking human life. Abortion is in direct defiance of the commonly accepted idea of the sanctity of human life
  1. No civilized society permits one human to intentionally harm or take the life of another human without punishment, and abortion is no different.
  2. Adoption is a viable alternative to abortion and accomplishes the same result. And with 1.5 million American families wanting to adopt a child, there is no such thing as an unwanted child.
  3. An abortion can result in medical complications later in life; the risk of ectopic pregnancies doubles, and the chance of a miscarriage and pelvic inflammatory disease also increases.
  4. In the instance of rape and incest, proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant. Abortion punishes the unborn child who committed no crime; instead, it is the perpetrator who should be punished.
  5. Abortion should not be used as another form of contraception.
  6. For women who demand complete control of their body, control should include preventing the risk of unwanted pregnancy through the responsible use of contraception or, if that is not possible, through abstinence.
  1. Many Americans who pay taxes are opposed to abortion, therefore it's morally wrong to use tax dollars to fund abortion.
  2. Those who choose abortions are often minors or young women with insufficient life experience to understand fully what they are doing. Many have lifelong regrets afterwards.
  3. Abortion frequently causes intense psychological pain and stress.

WHO HAS ABORTIONS?

  • In 2011, unmarried women accounted for 85.5% of all abortions (CDC).
  • Women living with a partner to whom they are not married account for 25% of abortions but only about 10% of women in the population (NAF).
  • In 2011, women who had not aborted in the past accounted for 53.7% of all abortions; women with one or two prior abortions accounted for 37.1%, and women with three or more prior abortions accounted for 9.3% (CDC).
  • Among women who obtained abortions in 2011, 39.9% had no prior live births; 46.1% had one or two prior live births, and 13.9% had three or more prior live births (CDC).
  • Women between the ages of 20-24 obtained 32.9% of all abortions in 2011; women between 25-29 obtained 24.9% (CDC).
  • Women in their 20's have the highest abortion rates. In 2011, women aged 20-24 had 25.9 abortions for every one thousand 20-24 year-old women. Women aged 25-29 had 19.4 abortions for every one thousand 25-29 year-old women (CDC).
  • 51% of U.S. women obtaining abortions are younger than 25; women aged 20-24 obtain 33% of all U.S. abortions, and teenagers obtain 18% (AGI).
  • In 2011, adolescents under 15 years obtained .04% of all abortions, but had the highest abortion ratio, 817 abortions for every 1,000 live births (CDC).
  • Black women were 3.7 times more likely to have an abortion in 2011 than non-Hispanic white women (CDC).
  • The abortion rate of non-metropolitan women is about half that of women who live in metropolitan counties (NAF).
  • The abortion rate of women with Medicaid coverage is three times as high as that of other women (NAF).
  • 37% of women obtaining abortions identify themselves as Protestant, and 28% identify themselves as Catholic (AGI).
  • At current rates, nearly one-third of American women will have an abortion (AGI).

On the Front Lines for Innocent Life

Fighting Abortion at George Washington University

from John Ritchie
Tradition Family Property, Student Action

It all happened when 17 of us were at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. We were promoting truth and handing out pro-life literature, challenging the culture of death.

As you know, the abortion debate wages hot and heavy on campus these days, and this was no exception.

So when you watch the video below, you’ll see a feminist student screaming in my face, “Abortion is okay!” And others yelled, “Abort children - spare Bin Laden.”

We had to suck up a lot of insults. But our campaign hit its mark. It pricked the consciences of many people, young and old, and popped the bubble of moral relativism that numbs so many young minds on campus.

And listen to this: Hundreds of students wanted to read copies of our hard-hitting flier:

10 Reasons Why Abortion is Wrong

This flier tells it like it really is. And I’m hoping that you will pass this along to friends and family.

Join in the Protest of Professor Peter Singer on Wednesday, June 10, 2015‏

from Marie Tasyj, Executive Director
New Jersey Right to Life

Please join NJRTL and Disability Groups on Wednesday, June 10th at Princeton University for a protest of Professor Peter Singer. Please see details below.

On April 26, 2015, Singer appeared on "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio," where he said that health care rationing is already happening and then made the case to argue in favor of "non-voluntary euthanasia" for humans who he contends are not capable of understanding the choice between life and death, including "severely disabled infants, and people who through accident, illness, or old age have permanently lost the capacity to understand the issue involved."

As a Professor at a prestigious IVY League University, Singer has been able to push his dangerous ideas which discriminate against the disabled, sick and infirmed. Through this highly visible platform, he is able to influence scores of students who will become our future leaders.

When Princeton University first hired Professor Peter Singer in the 1990's, New Jersey Right to Life joined with Disability Groups then to call on Princeton University officials to rescind the appointment. We are once again joining with these groups to call for Singer's resignation and the public denouncement of these discriminatory comments against the disabled community. To find out more about the protest, use this link.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10 PEACEFUL PROTEST AT PRINCETON UNIVERSITY

  • Purpose: To stand with the disability community to reject Professor Peter Singer’s advocacy of killing disabled babies.
  • When: Wednesday, June 10, 2015, 1:00 p.m.
  • Time: Meet at 1:00 p.m. at Palmer Square (by the Unitarian Church). Use this link for map and directions. We will then proceed to Princeton campus with signs. Several leaders of the Disability Community will attempt to meet with Princeton faculty.

No signs with sticks are allowed. This is a law enforcement regulation. You can make your own signs, but please stick to the theme. Some suggestions for phrases on signs are:
  • Princeton Must Call for Singer's Resignation
  • Singer Says OK to Kill Disabled Children
  • Singer Says Save $ by Killing Disabled
  • Princeton Must Denounce Singer
  • No price on children's lives
  • Protect Disabled Children - Remove Peter Singer
  • Every life is a life worth living. This includes the disabled

Please join us and invite friends and family and parents of people with disabilities to participate in this event. Let's stand with our Disabled Brothers and Sisters in denouncing the killing of disabled infants.

Women's Clinic in Selma, AL, is an 'Abortion Mill' Committing Genocide of Black Babies, Investigators Claim

From Natural News

The Central Alabama Women's Clinic, a privately owned clinic, has been exposed by pro-life undercover agents as an abortion mill. In question is how this clinic is avoiding government supervision and scrutiny that limits private clinics from performing more than nine abortions per month.

The Central Alabama Women's Clinic in Selma, Alabama, is not a state-licensed abortion clinic, so state law requires that it can provide no more than nine abortions a month. But pro-life undercover agents had made over nine appointments in one month, causing them to urge the Alabama Department of Public Health to investigate.

Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, and staff member Cheryl Sullenger claimed they have recordings of phone calls which indicate that Dr. Samuel Lett's clinic provides abortions beyond those allowed by Alabama statutes for private clinics or doctors' offices.

Sullenger and other staffers were told that prices for abortions under 12 weeks would cost $550, but "after 12 weeks it goes up." This is further proof of their illegal operation, according to Newman: "A doctor's office doesn't just have pricing sitting there. This is a wholesale abortion clinic."

Sullenger explained a private clinic's motive for not registering as a licensed abortion clinic: "If something like this is illegally operating as an abortion clinic, there is no oversight. There is no accountability." She added that illegal abortion clinics "put women in danger."

Perpetrators of Genocide‏

Martin Fox, President
National Pro-Life Alliance

Through history, perpetrators of genocide have routinely dehumanized their victims in an attempt to rationalize their actions. And today, abortionists do the same.

Part of dehumanizing an unborn child includes lying to mothers about what the child really is. Doubtless you’ve heard pro-abortionists refer to an unborn child as just a “clump of cells.”

One abortionist even said, “[the mothers] always wanted to know the sex, but we lied and said it was too early to tell. It was better for the women to think of the fetus as an ‘it’.”

And another former abortionist once admitted: “[The mothers] are never allowed to look at the ultrasound because we knew that if they so much as heard the heart beat, they wouldn’t want to have an abortion.”

Abortionists know that once a mother sees an ultrasound photo, she can clearly see her unborn baby is a person, not an “it.”

In fact, a recent nationwide study showed that 78% of abortion minded women who view an ultrasound image of their child choose life.

That’s why National Pro-Life Alliance members are fighting on both the State and Federal level for life-saving legislation known as the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act (click on this link to see summary) that would require abortionists show mothers an ultrasound image of their unborn babies before getting an abortion.

Together, you and I must continue to fight to protect innocent, unborn babies from the evil of abortion.

If you haven't already done so, please click here to sign your petition in support of the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act.

After signing, please chip in with a contribution to help us mobilize grass roots pressure for the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act.

Your National Pro-Life Alliance is entirely dependent on voluntary contributions to keep our vital programs running. We receive no government funding.

A Plea from a Son of a Euthanized Belgian Woman

By Alex Schadenberg, International Chair
Euthanasia Prevention Coalition

The recent 2015 HOPE International Symposium opposing euthanasia and assisted suicide featured many excellent speakers, including Professor Tom Mortier, whose depressed mother died by euthanasia in Belgium.

Rebecca DiGirolamo interviewed Mortier at the Symposium in Australia for the Southern Cross news.

DiGirolamo’s article begins by expressing Mortier’s purpose for speaking at the Symposium in Australia.

The son of a clinically depressed woman euthanized under Belgium’s liberal laws has warned Australian politicians against legalizing euthanasia.

“I want to warn people by telling my story,” said Mr. Mortier, a chemistry professor in Belgium.

He said his mother was a 64-year-old woman in perfect physical health with a treatable illness when she was killed by lethal injection in 2012 following a relationship break-up.

He said he was not involved in the decision making process nor was he contacted by the doctor who euthanized her, Dr. Wim Distelmans.

The New York Times Throws in the Towel on Overpopulation‏

by Steven Mosher and Anne Roback Morse
Population Research Institute

My guess is that you, gentle reader, will be as astonished as we were by the top-of-the-website New York Times article discrediting the population alarmism of the past fifty years. In "The Unrealized Horrors of Population Explosion" the newspaper has finally (several decades too late) thrown population control on the ash heap of discredited ideas.

The article included a video interview with Paul Ehrlich, the author of The Population Bomb. He was the butterfly scientist from Stanford who scared tens of millions with the specter of overpopulation—and the population apocalypse that would supposedly result. He predicted that by the 1970’s the “population bomb” would explode—and hundreds of millions of people would starve to death in India and elsewhere. (India is still there, and doing quite well, thank you.)

But America’s “newspaper of record,” as it styles itself, failed to record the horrors themselves. It was woefully incomplete. There was no mention of the human costs when governments made population control a priority. No mention of the savage forced abortions and forced sterilizations that followed. No mention of the killing of baby girls through female infanticide and sex-selective abortion. No mention of the wasted money, the age and gender imbalances that continue to unfold and will take effect for years to come. No mention of how the overpopulation panic helped to fuel the rise of birth control use and abortion.

Instead, when citing reasons why birth rates have dropped world-wide, the article offered more benign explanations. First, improved health standards mean that couples no longer need to have 5 children in the hope that 3 survive. Second, large families are not necessary in post-agricultural society since they are not needed to work the land, and therefore only make a population dense city increasingly crowded. Third—and direct from New York City—comes the motherhood slam: “Women in many societies are ever more independent, socially and economically; they no longer accept that their fate is to be endlessly pregnant.”

In other words, the New York Times does not even begin to tell the whole story. The horrors of anti-human population control campaigns continue today.

Take India, for example. Over 60% of India’s women state they have been exposed to “family planning messaging” in the past few months; an impressive statistic considering only 64% of India’s women are literate. And the less educated are sterilized in much higher numbers. While 47% of Indian women with less than five years of education have been sterilized, only 20% of women with twelve or more years of education have accepted sterilization. Lack of consent, painful and pervasive injuries, and death from negligence disproportionately affect India’s most vulnerable. Indian women are not having fewer children because they are becoming “more independent,” but because they are being coerced into undergoing sterilization by abusive population control programs, with their saturation propaganda and sterilization camps.

“The core message of [Ehrlich’s book]—population growth outstripping food supply—resonated quite a bit with India's elites-with the middle classes,” economist Gita Sen told the Times. “They much preferred to believe that the poor were poor because of too many children rather than being poor because of an unfair and unequal economic system.”

In China—which now has below-replacement fertility—the Planned Birth Policy allows the state to control childbearing. Anyone pregnant without a valid birth permit falls afoul of the Family Planning police, and abortion and sterilization usually follow.

Chinese human rights activist Chen Guangcheng states: “In ancient Chinese culture we had a saying that your home is your castle, and that even the king will not be allowed to come in without your permission. But now in today’s China under Communist rule, they even put their hand into your body and grab your babies out of your womb, and they kill your babies in your face.”

In Myanmar—another country where fertility levels have fallen below replacement—President Thein Sein just signed a “Population Control” bill into law. The law implicitly authorizes the use of coercion and discrimination, especially against the persecuted Rohingya minority—who are already subject to a two-child policy.

In dying Uzbekistan, the authoritarian government is coercing tens of thousands of women into sterilization.

The former president of Peru is currently on trial for crimes against humanity for a population control campaign in the 1990’s that sterilized over 300,000 indigenous women against their will.

The list goes on and on.

These are the true “unrealized horrors” of Ehrlich’s mad tale. The past half century has seen tens of millions of men and women sterilized without their consent and tens of millions of women forcibly aborted. These men and women are owed more than a one-off article from The New York Times saying, “Oh, oops. I guess we were all wrong.”

The New York Times conveniently fails to mention that it helped to fan the flames of the overpopulation panic. It advocated setting up population control programs, and editorialized on behalf of the billions of dollars in funding that continues to fuel the anti-people movement down to the present day. A mea culpa would be nice, but we aren't holding our breath.

And lest we forget, the grim game of controlling human numbers continues, albeit under a different name. Today, efforts to disable women’s reproductive systems are called "reproductive health" programs. Orwellian, isn’t it?

The pro-life Population Research Institute is dedicated to ending human rights abuses committed in the name of "family planning," and to ending counter-productive social and economic paradigms premised on the myth of "overpopulation." Find us at pop.org.

Monday's Walmart Demonstrations in Waco bring Partial Pullback on Pornography Sales

From John Pisciotta, Director
Pro-Life Waco

Before I describe what happened, I make TWO URGENT ACTION REQUESTS.
  • Action request #1. Call Waco Walmart Stores (254-751-0464 & 254-666-9021) and Walmart headquarters (800-WALMART). Ask to speak to managers in Waco and express your solidarity with our demand for complete elimination of sales of the 50 Shades of Grey deplorable movie.
  • Action request #2. Make some signs and deliver an “outreach” at a Walmart near you. We cannot advance the battle for our children if we do not engage in battles.
Our 1-2 punch against Walmart in Waco began at 8 a.m. by setting up our signs and positions at the main vehicle entrance to Walmart on Franklin Avenue. Thank you Mike, Fred, Frank, Laura, Ellen, Janie, Nick, Joe, Vincent, Sil, and Carroll for participating. By 9 a.m., we had our limited victory.

The store manager walked out to take a look at what was going on. I engaged him in conversation. The exchange was quite civil and we discussed what he could and could not do as manager. Our non-negotiable demand is the end to pornographic 50 Shades of Grey video sales at the store. He said he could not end sales but would remove all 50 Shades DVDs from checkout lanes. This would limit pornography sales to the video section of the store. I confirmed at 7 p.m. this evening that the checkout lanes were clear of 50 Shades of Grey. Beyond signs, I also want to note that we were quite successful in distributing a page of information about the 50 Shades movie.

By 11 a.m., we moved the demonstration to the Walmart store on Hewitt Drive. The opportunity to engage people was even greater at this store. Additionally, we had plenty of opportunity to engage the management. I thought it would be a good idea to hand out flyers at the walk-in entrance to the store. Customers were quite receptive. However, the managers found this objectionable. Two managers came out to discuss the situation. I complied with their request to leave the area. Shortly after I returned to the demonstration area, police officers arrived on the scene. They were very helpful in setting the legal ground rules for the demonstration. We had to move three signs back a few feet and also remove our cars from their parking lot. The next flare up came when one of our young demonstrators named Fred went into the Walmart store to use the restroom. He was told that he could not enter in the store because he was wearing our pro-life t-shirt. Fred and I went back into the store for clarification with the store manager. I asked why he was offended by a pro-life t-shirt but willing to sell pornography. I objected to the violation of first amendment rights. The manager did not like our being in the store. We departed the store and wrapped up the demonstration by 1 p.m. –with a sincere promise to return.

With your help, this battle with Walmart will continue—with some new signs. I welcome your suggestions for sign wording. I am considering these two:
--Walmart is disgracing the memory of Sam Walton.
--Walmart is selling a pornographic DVD: 50 Shades of Grey.
I close by stating again TWO ACTION REQUESTS
  1. Call and complain to Walmart managers.
  2.  Demonstrate against Walmart in your community.

SILENCE IS SURRENDER

TOLERANCE BYTES: SUPPRESSING CONSTITUTIONAL FREEDOMS FOR ABORTION IN CALIFORNIA

by Reverend Katherine Marple
KeepLifeLegal

OOPS! Looks like California totally forgot that the Constitution is still law of the land, EVEN in the Left Coast. Try as they might, they cannot silence our freedoms and liberties, regardless of who votes for whatever Jerry dreams up. Governor Moonbeam needs to stop smoking up his stash while in office.

California is trying to require – FORCE – prolife pregnancy centers to offer abortion as an ‘option’ even though it is clearly against their freedom of speech, and for most it will also impede their religious freedoms and liberties and morals.

These life saving centers are typically based on religious values and run on donations only. Hag rag MS. magazine says [as if their OPINION matters] these are ‘fake’ clinics but call abortion facilities ‘health centers’ and say abortion is ‘healthcare’ THAT KILLS UNBORN CHILDREN??? Here’s a newsflash: Abortion facilities RUN on taxpayer money. Now, if you owned stock in a company, don’t you think you should have a say about it? Of course – then why can’t taxpayers say NO to baby killing businesses? Oh, right…that ‘tolerant’ road only goes one way.
