Pro-Life “Prayer Warrior” Nicholas Thalasinos Killed During the San Bernardino Shootings

 MICAIAH BILGER   DEC 4, 2015

A pro-life advocate was among the victims who were killed during a mass shooting Wednesday in San Bernadino.

The Live Action blog indicates that pro-lifer Nicholas “Michael” Thalasinos was one of 14 people who were shot and killed in what authorities are now confirming was a terrorist attack. Twenty-one others were injured in the tragic shooting.

Juda Myers, founder of the pro-life organization Choices4Life, told Live Action that Thalasinos was a “prayer warrior for Choices4Life.” Myers said he also considered becoming a board member of their organization, which works to restore honor and dignity to women and children of rape conception.

“He was an awesome man of God,” she told Live Action.

Some speculated that Thalasinos may have been targeted because of comments he made online about Islam and his support of Israel, according to the report.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the victim’s family here. Photos indicate that he was married.

Thalasinos is the second pro-life advocate who has been killed in mass shootings within the past week.

Pro-life police officer Garrett Swasey also was gunned down in a mass shooting around a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood abortion clinic last week. LifeNews reported that Swasey opposed abortion and served as a co-pastor at his church.

Authorities have not yet released a motive for the Colorado Springs shooting, which claimed the lives of three people, including Swasey, and injured nine others.

Immediately after the San Bernadino attacks, several mainstream news outlets tried to link the terrorist attack to the pro-life movement by bringing up the California city’s Planned Parenthood – even though it was totally irrelevant to the terrorism.

The FBI announced that it is officially investigating the California attack as an act of terrorism.

Dominican Republic’s Constitutional Court Affirms Nation’s Total Ban on Abortion

porlavidasign

National Right to Life: By Dave Andrusko

At the eleventh hour, the Dominican Republic’s constitutional court on Wednesday ruled that changes to the criminal code which previously completely banned abortion were unconstitutional.

Reuters reported that last year the country’s congress changed the criminal code to allow abortion “in cases of rape, incest, a deformed fetus or when a woman’s life is in danger,” changes which were initiated and approved by President Danilo Medina. The new criminal code was to go into effect December 27.

The small Caribbean nation had passed a pro-life constitutional amendment in 2009 which was reinforced in 2014 by a bill that banned abortions. However Medina vetoed the bill and called for legislation to add the exceptions and the congress agreed setting the stage for Wednesday’s decision by the constitutional court.

The country has been under enormous outside pressure, in large measure from United Nations groups and the Center for Reproductive Rights.

In addition at almost the same time Medina was calling for changes to the Dominican Republic’s total ban on abortion, Chilean President Michelle Bachelet submitted legislation to that nation’s Congress to permit abortions in cases of rape and threats to the mother or baby’s life.

Paris March for Life Cancelled Over Risk of Last-minute Shut Down by Police

Jeanne Smits, Paris Correspondent

PARIS, December 4, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – There will be no national March for Life in Paris next month. The leaders of “En marche pour la vie,” an umbrella organization that coordinates a dozen French pro-life associations, made this “painful” decision on Tuesday evening in the wake of the recent bloody terrorist attacks that took 130 lives in Paris on November 13th. Paul Ginoux-Defermon, spokesman for the event, made the decision public this Thursday, quoting the organizers’ fear of seeing the 2016 March prohibited by the Parisian police authorities.

There will be no-one in the streets on January 24th to march for life and against abortion. Officially, over 200,000 chemical and surgical abortions take place in France each year, and the “day-after pill” is available over the counter and distributed in high schools.

The aftermath of the attacks waged by Islamism against the French Republic is making itself felt. Whichever way you look at it, the “Prefecture de police” of Paris, that had acted so violently against the peaceful “Manifs pour tous” against same-sex “marriage” in the months running up to the law’s adoption in 2016, now has a perfect excuse for discouraging and even banning certain public events altogether.

This will be the first time since 2005 that no major pro-life or pro-family demonstration will be taking place in the French capital. Over the years, the annual Parisian March for Life had grown steadily in numbers and attracted many delegations from the rest of Europe and overseas, including the United States.

The 2016 edition would have protested more specifically against the latest attacks against innocent human life. The socialist government has introduced further liberalization of abortion in a series of laws from the start of its term of office in 2012. A new Health Law under discussion has already been adopted by the lower chamber of Parliament, the “AssemblĂ©e nationale”, and aims to allow midwives to procure chemical abortions, to create plans of access to abortion in all French regions, assigning minimal quotas to hospitals and clinics in regard to the amount of childbirths registered there, and to scrap the seven-day cooling-off period between an abortion request and the actual operation. Included in the legislation are wider provisions for embryo research as well as a new measure presuming consent for organ donation.

Huge Pro-Life Victory! Senate Votes to Defund Planned Parenthood

Vote emphasized the importance of the 2016 Presidential Election

From Operation Rescue

Washington, DC - Last night in a historic vote, the U.S. Senate passed a reconciliation bill that guts major portions of Obamacare and bars Planned Parenthood from receiving Federal tax dollars in Medicaid reimbursements. This would effectively defund Planned Parenthood to the tune of nearly $500 million each year. The final vote was 52-47.

"The pro-life movement, including Operation Rescue, has fought for years to halt public funding to the nation's largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood. With this victory in the Senate, and guaranteed passage in the House, we have achieved an unprecedented political victory!" said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "The majority of the American people do not support doling out millions of our hard-earned tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, and with this vote, the will of the people has been heard. Planned Parenthood is a private organization that is fully capable of funding itself. It certainly does not need to drain public funds that can be better used elsewhere to help women with legitimate medical services."

Operation Rescue understands that the bill will be vetoed by President Barack Obama, a radical abortion supporter. However, if a Republican President is elected next November, there is now every confidence that a similar bill will finally accomplish the defunding goal. This makes the next presidential election of critical importance for those who oppose tax funding of abortion businesses or abortion itself.

Newman has endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz for President, who was a strong proponent of the defunding measure and provided inspiring leadership on this issue.

Operation Rescue is grateful to all the Senators who were instrumental in this successful vote, including GOP leadership that came through on their promise to bring the defunding of Planned Parenthood to the floor for a vote.

There is no Justification for Keeping Silent

From Priests for Life
Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement:

The senseless and universally denounced shootings that took place in Colorado Springs on Friday have brought a number of inquiries to me and other pro-life leaders regarding whether we intend to soften our language or modify our actions regarding Planned Parenthood and abortion generally.

In short, the answer is "No." In fact, we will intensify both our language and our protests.

We neither participate in nor condone violence. Our messages and our protests did not start because of irresponsible and deranged perpetrators of violence, nor will they change or cease because of such people.

Planned Parenthood -- and the abortion industry generally -- are dismembering and decapitating little children on a daily basis, and for a profit. We describe abortion that way because that is how medical textbooks describe it. "A long curved Mayo scissors may be necessary to decapitate and dismember the fetus," Dr. Warren Hern explains in Abortion Practice, p. 154. The US Supreme Court, moreover, has described abortion procedures in detail. “The doctor grips a fetal part with the forceps and pulls it back through the cervix... The friction causes the fetus to tear apart. For example, a leg might be ripped off the fetus as it is pulled through the cervix and out of the woman. The process of evacuating the fetus piece by piece continues until it has been completely removed.” (US Supreme Court, Gonzales vs. Carhart, April 18, 2007, describing the D&E procedure).

If these things were not true, there would be no justification to say them; but since they are true, there is no justification for keeping silent.

Senate Votes to De-Fund Planned Parenthood After It Sells Body Parts From Aborted Babies

defundplannedparenthood
Life News: STEVEN ERTELT   DEC 3, 2015

The Senate voted today for a bill that would de-fund Planned Parenthood after it was caught selling the body parts of aborted babies. Hearings have exposed how the abortion company likely violated federal laws to sell the body parts.

The bill would block, for one year, most federal payments to Planned Parenthood. At least 89% of federal funding of Planned Parenthood would be blocked by this bill. The bill would repeal a number of major components of the Obamacare health law, including two of the major provisions that will lead to rationing of lifesaving care — the “Independent Payment Advisory Board” and the “excess benefits tax.”

Senators voted 52-47 (see below for roll call) for the reconciliation bill which would de-fund Planned Parenthood and repeal major portions of Obamacare.

The bill now goes back to the House and will head to President Barack Obama once the House approves the measure. Though Obama will veto the bill, the vote makes it clear that, under a pro-life president, Congress can get a de-funding bill approved with a majority vote that the president would sign into law.

“Tonight’s vote is a landmark victory for all who prioritize comprehensive women’s health care over abortion industry profits. We thank Senate Leadership for following through on their promise to advance this defunding provision to the President’s desk,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.

“The debate over the reconciliation process has continued the national conversation on Planned Parenthood and established an important precedent for the next administration,” continued Dannenfelser. “If Americans elect a pro-life president next year, and safeguard our pro-life majorities in Congress, this bill – and many others – could be law by 2017.”

Leading up to a vote on the bill, the Senate defeated an amendment from pro-abortion Senators Patty Murray of Washington and Ron Wyden of Oregon that would send $1 billion in taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood and abortion businesses.

SIGN THE PETITION! Congress Must De-Fund Planned Parenthood Immediately

National Right to Life and other pro-life groups urged the Senate to defeat the pro-abortion amendment in letters leading up to the vote.

Abortion Practitioner Failed to Report Rape of 13-Year-Old Girl Has Charge Dismissed

klopfer8

Life News: DAVE ANDRUSKO   DEC 3, 2015

For the second time this year, itinerant abortionist Ulrich Klopfer had a misdemeanor dismissed because he had completed a “pretrial diversion program,” the South Bend Tribune reported.

Both charges were because Ulrich did not follow Indiana state law which requires that notice of abortions to girls under age 14 be filed promptly with the Indiana Department of Health and Child Protective Services –within three days. Indiana law specifies that sexual activity of a 13-year-old or younger, regardless of the perpetrator’s age, is child molestation.

But both the St. Joseph County prosecutor earlier, and the Lake County prosecutor yesterday, dismissed the charge because Ulrich had satisfied the terms of a pre-trial diversion program.

“Dr. Klopfer’s failure to report abortions on young girls in a timely fashion may have allowed the child molestation to continue,” said Mike Fichter, President and CEO of Indiana Right to Life. “It’s appalling that he put young girls at serious risk and he received nothing more than a slap on the wrist from the county prosecutors. Our legal system failed these young girls.”

According to Indiana Right to Life, Klopfer ran abortion facilities in South Bend, Gary, and Fort Wayne for decades. Legal troubles and failure to comply with local and state laws have forced Klopfer to stop doing abortions in all three cities. However, his Fort Wayne and South Bend facilities remain open for non-abortion services.

Next March Klopfer will face the Indiana Medical Licensing Board over 1,833 alleged violations filed against him by the Office of Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller. The Medical Licensing Board could strip Klopfer of his medical license or take other disciplinary action against him.

Pregnant Chinese Pro-Life Activist Facing Pressure to Abort Her Second Child Now Safe in the U.S.

china22

MICAIAH BILGER   DEC 3, 2015

Chinese pro-life activist Sarah Huang has helped more than 100 women save their babies from being aborted under China’s cruel one-child policy.

But this fall, Huang (not her real name) found herself in the same situation that she had helped so many other families out of – being pressured to abort her unborn child.

World Magazine reports that when Huang discovered she was pregnant with her second child, her friends and family tried to convince her to have an abortion. Huang told the magazine that her family also could face a fine of $35,000 and her husband could lose his job because of their second baby.

Over the phone, she expressed to [World News reporter June Cheng] her fear she would face the same fate as women she’s helped in the past—that she’d be ratted out, officials would drag her to a clinic, strap her to a metal table, and forcibly abort her baby. While forced abortions are officially illegal in China, they still occur in rural areas. But Huang knew the baby had been given to her by God.

Even the recent change from a one-child policy to a two-child policy wouldn’t help Huang’s situation. She got pregnant before the announced change and the implementation of the new law will take place gradually throughout the country. Her options dwindled to getting a divorce, raising a child without hukou—China’s household registration—or traveling to the United States to give birth.

While weighing their options, the Huangs applied for travel visas and hid in a safe house, where Huang continued trying to help other women even as she faced danger herself. One night she called [China Life Alliance founder Matthew] Li saying police officers with dogs were at her door, and she refused to let them in. At that point, Li knew they had to get her out of the country.

Could YOUR Favorite Christmas Carol Save a baby?

from Eric ScheidlerExecutive Director
Pro-Life Action League

I'd like to ask you a quick question: What is your FAVORITE Christmas carol?

Most people answer "Silent Night," and that's my answer, too -- but for a reason you probably wouldn't guess:

"Silent Night" is the first Christmas carol to ever save a baby's life during the Pro-Life Action League's annual "Empty Manger Christmas Caroling Day."

That's the special day during Advent when pro-lifers visit abortion facilities to sing Christmas carols focused on the Christ Child.

Typically, these pro-life caroling groups gather around a life-size empty manger, which gives this event its name.

What's the "empty manger" all about? The empty manger is a dual symbol: it represents both the hopeful anticipation of a child's birth AND the emptiness left behind by abortion.

The Pro-Life Action League has been hosting this event in the Chicago area for 13 years, and every year, more cities and towns across the country have been joining in.

This year, I'd love to have YOU on board, too!

Would you consider hosting an Empty Manger caroling day outside your local abortion facility? You can get all the resources you need using this link.

At that link you'll find:
  • An exciting VIDEO of the League's caroling day in action -- see what this pro-life event is all about.
  • A comprehensive HOW-TO GUIDE with step-by-step instructions for hosting a successful caroling day.
  • Simple BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS for your own "empty manger" to gather around while singing carols.
  • An 8-page CAROLING BOOKLET to print out with a selection of carols focusing on the Christ child.

Here in Chicago we'll be holding our caroling day on December 19 -- the last Saturday before Christmas.

That might be a great day for you, too, but whatever day you choose, be sure to let me know all about it. And be sure to take lots of pictures -- and shoot some video, too.

I can promise that if you join this moving pro-life witness, your Advent will be more filled with meaning and your Christmas will be more blessed than ever before.

Be sure to let me know if you decide to host an Empty Manger Caroling Day so I can help let folks know about your event!
