Best Pals: 257 Media Outlets and Journalists Awarded by Planned Parenthood

It’s time to give them back.

Planned Parenthood understands that, faced with the reality of what it does, the American public would decline to fund the nation’s largest abortion mill with tax dollars. So it makes sense that Planned Parenthood keep its media friends happy. Cue the Maggie Awards.

Since 1978, Planned Parenthood has fostered an cozy relationship with the media by rewarding the outlets and journalists it relies on to push its agenda. The Media Research Center compiled a list of media awarded by the abortion giant to hold them accountable to the public and demand that the recipients return their awards in the wake of the videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s harvesting of aborted baby parts. Those recipients include all three broadcast networks as well as outlets like The Washington Post and taxpayer-funded NPR.

According to the abortion giant, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America “Maggie Awards for Media Excellence” began in 1978 in honor of founder Margaret Sanger. The awards “recognize exceptional contributions by the media and arts and entertainment industries that enhance the public’s understanding of reproductive rights and health care issues, including contraception, sex education, teen pregnancy, abortion, and international family planning.”

According to Planned Parenthood’s own website, all three broadcast networks, ABC, NBC and CBS, boast such awards.

Texas Puts Strong Rules in Place to Stop Secret Abortions on Teens Without Their Parents Knowing

Texas took another step to protect young girls and their unborn babies from abortion this week.

The state Supreme Court issued a ruling Tuesday that strengthens the rules against secret abortions conducted on girls under the age of 18, according to Texas Alliance for Life.

Texas law requires a minor seeking an abortion to receive consent of at least one parent, but a loophole allows young girls to get around the requirement by requesting permission from a judge instead. Texas pro-life advocates have been working for more than a decade to strengthen the law and put an end to abuses of the judicial bypass process, according to the pro-life group.

“We are pleased with the Supreme Court’s strong rules regarding the judicial bypass process for abortions on minor girls,” said Joe Pojman, Ph.D., executive director of Texas Alliance for Life. “The reforms closed loopholes and increased protections for the minors from abuse.”

Earlier this year, Texas legislators passed, and Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law, House Bill 3994 to reform the judicial bypass process, according to the pro-life group. The law is scheduled to go into effect Jan. 1.

“The Texas Supreme Court has faithfully implemented House Bill 3994 in a way that will best protect the well being of minor girls,” Pojman said.

Doctors Were Ready to Take His Son Off Life Support and Harvest His Organs Until He Pulled a Gun

Texas Right To Life

Nearly a year ago, George Pickering III was lying in a hospital bed on life support. He had suffered a massive stroke after a history of seizures, and had been declared brain-dead.

Doctors determined that care was futile and ordered a “terminal wean,” which means they planned to gradually remove George’s life support. The hospital even notified organ donation organizers that George’s body would soon be available for harvesting.

Brain death, futile care, and denial of treatment- a list of jargon that is disastrous for countless Texans every year who become victims of Texas’ draconian Advance Directives Act.

George Pickering II was not ready to let Tomball Regional Medical Center decide that his son’s life was no longer worth living. He took drastic action. Pickering wielded a handgun and stood beside his son’s hospital bed, vowing to protect George from the “terminal wean.”

Now that she knows the story of how her daughter helped save her life, Shelly Cawley is sharing that inspirational tale — and what it has meant to her faith — with the world.

But above all, she wants to share it with her little girl.

Shelly’s pregnancy had been normal, but during an emergency c-section she suffered a pulmonary embolism and slipped into a coma.

Doctors feared that Shelly would never wake, but then a nurse realized that contact with her newborn daughter might help reach the new mother. When Rylan cried, Shelly woke up.

One More Chance to Defund Planned Parenthood in Pennsylvania

From Ted Meehan
Pro-Life Union of Delaware County

Just at this time, the legislature is preparing a "Fiscal Code" which governs the manner in which appropriations may be spent. We have been lobbying for "Priorities" language to be included in the Fiscal Code - specifically to give preference to Hospitals, community health centers, and others who provide non-controversial women's healthcare services - before any abortion provider is eligible to receive public funds. This language would have the effect of defunding Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

At one point, this language was included in both House & Senate versions, but was pulled.

Wolf doesn't want the Priorities. The Senate wants to delete that language before voting on the new Fiscal Code (FC). But that FC has not been introduced in either chamber - and won't until sometime next week.

Our hope is to encourage emails and phone calls to legislators in both chambers - but primarily to Leadership: House Speaker Turzai, Leader Reed, Senate President Pro Tem Scarnati, and Leader Corman.

It is essential that the GOP Leadership hears from the grassroots  - that ANY budget deal must

WILL I HAVE A NEW YEAR, TOO?

WILL I HAVE A NEW YEAR, TOO?

By Judy Alciatore

GOSH, MOMMY, WHAT'S ALL THAT NOISE
I HEAR PEOPLE LAUGHING AND SINGING
I HEAR THE WORDS HAPPY NEW YEAR
AND BELLS THAT ARE LOUDLY RINGING

MOMMY, IT'S SO NICE IN HERE
BEING SO CLOSE TO YOU
BUT, MOMMY, I WONDER NOW
WILL I HAVE A NEW YEAR, TOO?

WILL I SEE THE LIGHTS
ON A CHRISTMAS TREE
WILL I HAVE GIFTS TO OPEN?
WILL I HAVE A BIRTHDAY
WITH CANDLES AND A CAKE?
MOMMY, WILL I BE CHOSEN?

MOMMY, I WANT TO KNOW
WILL I BE LOVED BY YOU?
PLEASE, MOMMY, TELL ME NOW
WILL I HAVE A NEW YEAR, TOO?

THANK YOU, LORD!

2nd Annual Pro-Life Prayer and Witness Outside of Planned Parenthood in Warminster, Pennsylvania

If you are not able to attend the March for Life in Washington, DC.......

On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court of the United States of America handed down the infamous Roe v Wade decision allowing the killing of unborn children through all nine months of pregnancy. Every year since then, hundreds of thousands of citizens of our nation have gathered in Washington DC to stand up for the unborn and remind the world that abortion is a moral injustice.

There are many who cannot make the March for Life in Washington, but want to show their solidarity with those who are marching and giving witness in Washington, DC. Pro-Life Warriors from Bucks County, Pennsylvania plan to hold a prayer rally that day at our local Planned Parenthood.

At 12 noon on January 22, 2016, pro-life residents of Bucks County will gather in front of the Planned Parenthood located on Louis Drive in Warminster, PA  (map)  to pray and give witness.

We encourage everyone from this area who cannot make the March in Washington DC to join us to pray for an end to the horrible crime of abortion in this community, our nation, and the whole world.

10 Reasons Not to Have an Abortion

Kristi Burton Brown
Live Action News

Note: If you are a father trying to stop an abortion, see this article. If you are a woman who is being pressured into an abortion, go here.

Parenting website Mommyish published an article advocating ten reasons (well, actually nine) to have an abortion. In response, I wrote a piece debunking the author’s arguments.  Below, I will discuss ten reasons not to have an abortion.

1) It compounds tragedy.

Sometimes the circumstances surrounding a pregnancy are tragic. Perhaps the woman was raped. Maybe the baby has been diagnosed with a defect. Or the woman’s health might be at risk. However, one tragedy is not answered with another. We do not erase a rape by killing a child. We do not cure a baby by taking his life. And we do not avoid all health issues by avoiding the reality of another human being.

Kristi Burton Brown is a pro-life attorney, volunteering for Life Legal Defense Foundation and as an allied attorney for Alliance Defending Freedom. She is a county co-chair for Ted Cruz in Colorado. Kristi enjoys being a stay-at-home mom and a wife to her favorite man in the whole world. She loves her Savior, Jesus Christ, speaking out for the truth, reading, politics, and trying out new recipes.

Five Ways Abortion Rules are Changing for Texas Minors

by Alexa Ura
The Texas Tribune

Underage Texas women seeking abortions without their parents' consent will face a tougher set of legal hurdles in the new year.

State law already requires minors — those under age 18 — to get sign-off from at least one parent before receiving an abortion, unless doing so could put the young woman in danger of physical, sexual or emotional abuse. In those cases, a judge can be asked to approve the procedure.

New legislation that takes effect Friday tightens the rules for seeking such “judicial bypass,” including heightening reporting requirements and adding a new civil penalty of up to $10,000 for anyone found to “intentionally, knowingly, recklessly or with gross negligence” violate the law.

Here's a look at five other ways the rules are changing, and what they mean for Texas minors.

1. The new judicial bypass rules lengthen the window of time judges have to rule on such cases from two days to five days.
