By Donating to Planned Parenthood, You can Lend a Hand… to an Abuser

As you might know, I got a major surprise some years back while attending a political event. The venue was surrounded by protesters, with one of them declaring that I was a racist who hated minorities. I was surprised to learn that about myself. My biracial girlfriend was even more puzzled when she heard the news.

I recently got another surprise: it appears that I support the abortion industry. Cecile Richards seems to think so, anyway. She’s the president of Planned Parenthood, and I received an email from her asking for my help. While I have a fairly good idea as to how I ended up on Planned Parenthood’s mailing list, the content of their message is a little perplexing.

The email begins with “Dear Adam” (as you can see, we’re pretty close) and then goes on to recount how abortion clinics are closing in Texas. Apparently this is part of a national trend in which “anti-women’s health lawmakers are making it harder and harder for women to get the care they need.”

Thoughts from a New Momma

ust over two months ago, I was joined in sacramental union to my beautiful bride, and before the ink had even dried on our marriage certificate, God saw fit to add to our joy and our number by blessing us with a baby on the way. In the week or so after we received this news, my wife put down some of her thoughts and reflections on this radical change in our lives. As she is far more qualified to comment on the new life growing inside of her and far more eloquent than I, her words are far preferable to mine to describe this happy and holy occasion:

When my husband and I first found out I was pregnant, we were shocked. We had been married only two and a half weeks at the time (now we’ve been married a whopping 4 weeks!), and we found out while we were on our honeymoon.

Our apartment wasn’t even unpacked, we still had wedding gifts in the trunk of our car. We were finally settling down from the absolute whirlwind that is putting on a wedding, and now this! I couldn’t help but initially feel so totally overwhelmed.

This all-expenses-paid conference aims to bring together students and leading scholars to discuss the role of religion in the public square and at American universities today. Participants will have the opportunity to attend panel discussions and lectures, learn from top scholars and develop lifelong friendships. STOP THE VIOLENCE: BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN VIOLENCE & PEACE IN YOUR CITY

This one simple ‘law’ that goes unnoticed is that violence begets violence. Violence happens within the home, in the street and in the womb. The news covers what they want to acknowledge as violence but do they cover it all?

Innocent children are murdered every day…about 4000 times per day in the United States. Abortion is the most violent act that a child will suffer, and make no mistake: They suffer a real murder without the ability to defend themselves at the hand of their own family. See the real-time stats here.

Then, how can major cities lament their violence against children while they continue to allow the most heinous act against kids?

In New Orleans, a recent editorial headline says, “Life shouldn’t be so dangerous for children in New Orleans.” TRUTH. Life shouldn’t be so dangerous for children anywhere. But inner city New Orleanians and Louisianians are killing their unborn children with disarticulation and dismemberment and wonder why there is violence in their own communities?

Planned Parenthood Raising Money for Big Push in Fall Elections

Faced with clinic closings and legislative defeats, Planned Parenthood’s political arm (Planned Parenthood Action Fund) is in the process of spending $16 million in this fall’s races. To gin up contributions, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards has sent out a fiery but fact-challenged appeal fundraising letter to would-be supporters.

This massive political involvement may come as somewhat of a surprise to those who imagine Planned Parenthood to be just a “women’s health care provider,” the image PPFA so carefully cultivates. But, in fact, the nation’s largest abortion performer and promoter has also long been one of the biggest players on the political scene, spending millions to put politicians in office who will defend the killing of unborn babies and keep the taxpayer dollars flowing their way.

Planned Parenthood Forced to Face Fraud Lawsuit in Iowa

Planned Parenthood almost got away with alleged fraud in Iowa, until the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a district court’s dismissal of fraud claims by a former employee.

Sue Thayer, who was an office manager at Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, alleges that during her time in Planned Parenthood’s employment, the clinic committed multiple counts of Medicaid fraud and other questionable activity (such as being told to perform sonograms without medical training).

Thayer sued the organization 2011 after after having been dismissed in 2008. She has since become an active pro-life advocate who works to expose Planned Parenthood’s illegal activity in her community. Thayer contends that Planned Parenthood routinely over-billed the state Medicaid program. The Des Moines Register reports:

Okay what is our action? The PBS Point of View series is set to air “After Tiller” at 9 p.m. Central Time on Monday, Sept.1. I encourage 3 actions: 1. Write your local PBS station and complain about this documentary designed to normalize late-term abortion and abortionists. Just look at the PBS synopsis below painting abortionists as heroes. In my hometown of Waco, TX email to: knct@knct.org 2. Watch the dreadful show and take notes on Monday evening. 3. Write and send a letter to the editor of your local newspaper complaining about the biased “After Tiller” program paid for by your tax dollars.  Also send this letter to your PBS station. I know we are mad about this program. Being upset means little without Hometown ACTION. Note: letters to PBS stations and local newspapers to not need to be long. 100-200 words would be fine. Don't worry about perfection. Just take action. What is important is they know that there are real people out there who oppose the killing of innocents. SILENCE IS SURRENDER. PROPAGANDA FILM HUMANIZES SLAUGHTERING CHILDREN

After Tiller is a film set to air on Labor Day, September 1, 2014, on Public Broadcasting Service. The drama is being presented to the public as a “point of view” telecast and the subject matter centers around the four abortionists who now do late-term abortions in America. This documentary tells the stories of the four practitioners and some of their patients.

PBS is promoting the show by telling prospective viewers: “After Tiller presents the complexities of these women’s difficult decisions and the compassion and ethical dilemmas of the doctors and staff who fear for their own lives as they treat their patients.”

Lana Wilson, one of the directors of the film, spoke in an interview about whether or not the abortionists were in any danger due to pro-life protesters. Her answer astounded me:

The doctors will be the first to acknowledge that people can disagree about this issue. They understand that. But, should the level of vitriol for these doctors really be so high that people are assassinating them? . . . Let’s try to have more compassion for them instead of judging. You can disagree with them, but why do it in such a vitriolic way that it just promotes hatred?

It would take a small book to unpack the distortions in this woman’s answer, let alone the entire interview. But this quote does provide a window into the thinking behind the story. And it tells its own story about the cultural devastation that 40 years of decriminalized abortion has created.

In secular commentary I have read about this film, there is not a single suggestion that these doctors are practitioners who are in the business of killing people for a living. One is left with the impression that the world is comfortable with abortion and uncomfortable with anyone who protests the act.

What a sad state of affairs, America!

The Essence of Christianity

The apostle James wrote that the essence of Christianity—that which epitomizes “pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father”—is to care for “orphans and widows in their distress.” (James 1:27, NASB)

Babies aborted are “orphans” in the truest sense of the word, for they have been abandoned, by those entrusted to care for them, to the uttermost, even to death. The sheer number who have been led to slaughter with virtually no opposition even by churches who call themselves pro-life ought to give us pause before we conclude what we have been practicing is, in the sight of God, “pure and undefiled religion.”

As to where James came up with his definition of Christianity—divine inspiration, to be sure. But it also appears he knew his Bible:


Deuteronomy 10:18: He executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and shows His love for the alien by giving him food and clothing.

Exodus 22:22: You shall not afflict any widow or orphan.

SIDEWALK CHRONICLES: CONSISTENT PEACEFUL VIGIL IS CLOSING OHIO SURGICAL ABORTION FACILITIES

In the last SEVEN DAYS, three of Ohio’s abortion facilities [Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland] will no longer offer or perform surgical abortions. At this time it is not clear if these same facilities will offer the RU-486. 

Clearly, keeping constant, consistent peaceful vigils closes abortion facilities.

News of facilities closing encourages us to do more, not just where we witness but all over the country. Witnessing at other facilities is both edifying and educational; there is always room for improvement and you may have something to share as well.

Next month, both Texas and Louisiana will have to comply with new prolife laws; both states have filed cases against the new impending laws in order to keep killing. If the law is upheld, many of these facilities will close.

Soldiers, keep up the great work and remember that God knows the results, don’t lose heart, NEVER stop what you’ve been called to do!
