Planned Parenthood’s Okay With Sex-Selection Abortions in the U.S.

by Sarah Terzo

When Live Action released videos of Planned Parenthood staffers encouraging and assisting in alleged sex selection abortions, it unleashed a pro-abortion firestorm. Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice organizations launched a campaign against proposed legislation banning sex selection abortion and tried to debunk the videos by claiming that sex selection abortions are a myth. They insisted that such abortions never happen. However, a little bit of research shows that these abortions are occurring and have been occurring for a very long time, since the very legalization of abortion in Roe Vs. Wade.

In 1979, only six years after the Roe vs. Wade decision, a paper appeared in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine about the practice of sex selection abortions.

Researcher Dr. John Fletcher from the National Institutes of Health discussed the prevalence of women aborting because they were pregnant with a girl and they wanted a boy. He says in the article that he does not approve of the practice of aborting baby girls but:

“The existence of some trivial reasons should not deter us from the larger goal of protecting the right of women to make such decisions in the first place… It is inconsistent to support an abortion law that protects the absolute right of women to decide and, at the same time, to block access to information about the fetus because one thinks that an abortion may be foolishly sought on the basis of the information.”(1)

  1. We all knew about China’s “one child” policy and how female babies were being aborted in hopes that the couple would have a boy the next time; but now we’re learning that right here in our own country, sex-selection abortions have been going on for decades! These would-be mothers must be possessed by the devil to commit such evil.
