On August 7th the Knights of Columbus held their 136th annual Supreme Convention in Baltimore.
Carl Anderson, the organization's Supreme Knight, delivered his address commending the good works brother knights have done in the past year.
When it came to the culture of life, he remarked how the ordered set a goal to save 1 million lives through the ultrasound initiative. The program was first launched in 2009. In order to do so, they want to have an ultrasound available in every 50 state in the United States. Today there are currently 954 ultrasound machines present in pregnancy care centers and in turn puts them on the path of achieving their goal of 1000 ultrasound machines by the end of 2018.
The organization is at the forefront of many of the pro life demonstrations in the United States and across the globe, especially in Washington, DC Los Angeles, and San Francisco every January.
"In the last ten years, a Marist poll has consistently confirmed that a majority of Americans want restrictions on abortions." Anderson asserts. He also quotes Pope Francis that we must be clear, passionate, and firm in the abortion debate.
The biggest jaw-dropping moment came when Anderson uttered the truth of how Americans are dying every day. The answer is abortion. 60 million Americans have been killed in America since 1973.
We, as pro-lifers, whether a member of Knights of Columbus, AOH, missionary, etc are called to defend life from the moment of conception until natural death. Though we may get ridiculed, harassed, spat on, and at times attacked for our convictions in the defense of life, know this; we are inching closer to our reward... Heaven. Not even a million so called Catholics will keep you from such an achievement in God's eye. Woe to them for they know where they are destined if they refuse to repent of their mortal sins.
Catholics need to take the faith and pro-life message to not only the social media platforms, but they must be willing to make some noise in the streets, neighborhoods, and even the public squares. That to me will make us bolder.
Sadly many of our politicians have turned a blind eye and deaf ear from the humanity of the unborn child. We must offer sacrifice, works of mercy, fasting, and alms for their reparation of their mortal sin in supporting the false ideology of abortion on demand.
We must restore hope in the midst of innocent bloodshed carried out by an apathetic, cold, secular, society. The good news is God is on our side. We have been given the spiritual weapons, such as the brown scapular and the rosary, to conquer Satan, who works in the escorts, abortionists, and medical staff of the culture of death. Satan may win battles, but he will not triumph over Mary's Immaculate Heart.
