SIDEWALK CHRONICLES: EMPTY SIDEWALK, FULL LOT, FULL PEWS

By Reverend Katherine Marple

While thinking about what another sidewalk counselor said about the empty sidewalk, I came across this:

“Teach me to to suffer, Lord, rather than let me sin to escape suffering.” ~ Rolley Haggard

Spoke volumes. Way too many Christians want to escape suffering, to hide from it. Christ suffered, but a lot of Christians have no intention of suffering for the cause of Christ.

Indeed, there is a remnant within the remnant:

“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

This Christian life is not ours because we are not our own [Rom 14:7-9, 1Cor 6:19] – we were created for a purpose that was chosen for us before we were ever within our mother’s womb [Jer 1:5].

My dear Christian, you have NO excuse. NONE.
