CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – The decision has been made to close Planned Parenthood facilities in the Midstate, according to a statement from the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Keystone.
Melissa Reed said in a statement the centers located in Chambersburg, Gettysburg and Scranton were targeted for closing due to their proximity to other sites. The decision was made to consolidate services by closing these locations.
Planned Parenthood Keystone provided ABC27 with the following statement from Reed:
After careful consideration, Planned Parenthood Keystone has made the difficult strategic decision to consolidate health services by closing three centers located in Chambersburg, Gettysburg, and Scranton, to reduce the costs of duplication associated with running three sites in close proximity to others. This decision was not made lightly. It resulted from careful analysis of where our patients live and seek medical care as well as an assessment of how best to ensure the longevity and strength of existing health centers, in order to offer the highest level of patient care for years to come.
