Sisters of Life Celebrate Epiphany

As the Christmas season drew to a close, the Sisters of Life were thankful to have five of their own celebrate their very first in Philadelphia. Founded in the 1990s by West Philly native and New York Cardinal John Joseph O' Connor, they take the same vows as other orders. They add a fourth vow to protect life and be a voice for the voiceless.

The five sisters, led by Sister Grace Dominic, are currently stationed at St. Malachy's Convent near Temple University in the Yorktown section.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to build a culture of life through love in Philadelphia." Sister Grace Dominic said.

The event began with mass of Thanksgiving with a packed house of 300 people in the church. During his sermon, Father Kletzel reminded everyone that companionship is needed on our journey to heaven.

After mass all gathered for cookies and caroling.

Mother Agnes Donovan, the Superior General of the order, took time to address the crowd. She reminded everyone to always seek the star in their own lives that will lead them to Jesus.

The crowd later joined in the beautiful singing of beautiful Christmas Carols.

The Sisters of Life are in need of donations of maternity items to help moms and children in our area. If you can help, please drop them off at Saint Malachy's Church 1429 N 11th St, Philadelphia, PA 19122 or contact philly@sistersoflife.org
