Exciting Things Happening in the States!

I have some exciting news about 3 states which have acted to protect life this week!

• Nebraska just defunded Planned Parenthood of Title X funding! Nebraska is able to do this because of a bill signed by President Trump last year (that SBA List worked with Congress to pass) allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood of Title X funding. I stood next to President Trump in the Oval Office as he signed that bill, and Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts just signed Nebraska’s!

• In Missouri, the state House passed a state-level Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to ban abortions after five months of pregnancy. We’re working very closely with the chief bill sponsor, Rep. Donna Lichtenegger, an active member of our National Pro-Life Women’s Caucus. Two scholars from our research arm, the Charlotte Lozier Institute, testified in support of the bill. We are optimistic that the state Senate will pass the bill and the Governor will sign it to make Missouri the 21st state to enact a Pain-Capable law! We’re using the state bill to draw Missourians’ attention to how U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill voted against the federal Pain-Capable bill in January. We’ve already visited over 53,000 homes in Missouri talking to voters about McCaskill’s extremism on abortion, and we’re going to visit thousands more through November!

• In Wisconsin yesterday, Gov. Scott Walker signed a bill into law that prohibits health care plans for state and local government employees from paying for abortions with taxpayer dollars. Wisconsin has used taxpayer dollars to pay for health care plans that cover abortions for government employees for 23 years – but not anymore! We’re so thankful for Gov. Walker’s continued pro-life leadership and the efforts of our friends at Wisconsin Right to Life to push this bill through.

We are so encouraged by these developments and hope you are too. We are always fighting for pro-life laws in both Congress and all 50 states, and we’re grateful for your support which enables us to fight for life!
