Two Babies Saved From Abortion at Waco Planned Parenthood

From John Pisciotta
Director of Pro-Life Waco

After two-weeks away from Waco, Austin abortionist Scott Spear returned this morning to Waco Planned Parenthood for the taking of innocent life and for deceiving mothers. Unfortunately, the parking lot was quite busy.

There is good news. Two babies were saved--that we know of. What happened this morning was a great example of how laws passed in Austin work with hometown activism to advance the Culture of Life. I like to compare this to the two blades of a scissors. Paper cannot be cut without the two blades working together. Likewise the pro-life cause advances with pro-life legislation combined with local outreach.

The legal change that was so important this morning was mandatory counseling by the abortionist with a minimum 24-hour waiting period. This was enacted in Austin in 2011.

Pastor Ronnie Holmes and other faithful counselors had long and meaningful exchanges with moms and their friends who brought them for abortion counseling. For three abortion-minded moms we had an opportunity to talk AFTER counseling sessions. Without the counseling/waiting period law, there would have been a loss of life each case this morning in Waco.

For Case #1, a taxicab dropped a woman off at Planned Parenthood. She went into Planned Parenthood without talking to a pro-life counselor. After abortion counseling, she came out of Planned Parenthood. She walked and then rushed to Pastor Ronnie with tears streaming from her eyes. She said she could not go through with an abortion. Following a long talk, Donna Jernigan took her in Donna’s car to CareNet for pro-life counseling there. The mom is a recent immigrant from Eastern Europe. She and her husband are in need of a car and have as much as $5000 to pay. She has great anxiety that she will get a car that will break down soon. If anyone has a car that is running well and would be sold for less than $5000, please let me know. Of course, she also needs your prayers.

For Case #2, two young women came together to Planned Parenthood. One went in for her counseling session and the other came to talk to Pastor Ronnie and others of our faithful. This woman said that she did not want her friend to have an abortion and she would try to talk her out of it. Again after an hour or so, the abortion-minded mom left Planned Parenthood. This time she came over to talk. Pastor Ronnie and others talked extensively to her and she became convinced to continue to be the mother of a live baby. Pastor Ronnie gave her CareNet information and words of encouragement and prayer. He invited her to worship at his church and she said she would be there Sunday.

For Case #3, a man and a woman came to Planned Parenthood for abortion counseling. They departed and were about to get into their car. After hesitating, they talked to Pastor Ronnie and others. It was not clear if they were married or not. After a long discussion, Pastor Ronnie offered his hands in prayer. The couple accepted Pastor Ronnie's hands but not each other's hands as they prayed. Pastor Ronnie ended by saying that he would be here next week on Tuesday morning and prayed that they would not. There was no clear indication what their decision would be for their pre-born baby.

There were other positive interactions with abortion-minded clients and also women coming to Planned Parenthood for other reasons. For the non-abortion clients we tried to direct them to the services of other providers under the Texas Women Health Program.

I encourage all to come out next Tuesday morning at 1121 Ross Ave. If you cannot be there, I ask for your prayers. Lives are being saved and moms are being guided away from the soul damaging schemes of Planned Parenthood. The Holy Spirit was with us this morning.

Finally, I want to thank each person who prayed and witnessed for life at the previous Planned Parenthood Waco abortuary on Columbus Avenue. Thanks to your faithfulness over 18 years, this facility closed at the end of 2011. Planned Parenthood then moved abortions to 1121 Ross Avenue. At this location, there are no privacy fences and we now have so much more opportunity to talk to women about life for their babies and life in Christ.

It is gratifying to be a member of the pro-life movement in Waco.
