A
recommendation made by the grand jury in the tragic Kermit Gosnell case
has been OK'd by the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee.
The
committee last week approved House Bill 587, sponsored by Rep. Matt
Baker (R-Bradford, Tioga), which would ensure that impersonating a
doctor is treated as a crime with an appropriate penalty in the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The bill is based on one of a number of
legislative recommendations made by the grand jury which indicted
abortionist Kermit Gosnell in connection with the murder of infants and
the death of a female patient in his West Philadelphia abortion center.
Gosnell is now serving a life sentence following his conviction on
three murder counts.
Update: Below is a comment from The Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation that I received via e-mail.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to report that House Bill 587, which increases the penalty for impersonating a doctor in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, passed the Pennsylvania House of Representatives by a vote of 198 to 0 today (Tuesday).
The bill was based on one of the recommendations of the grand jury in the Kermit Gosnell case. If you will recall, several of Gosnell’s staff members had no medical training at all. Gosnell was ultimately convicted of the murder of three babies and in connection with the death of a female patient.
House Bill 587 now moves to the Pennsylvania Senate, which is scheduled to return from its break in January.
Thank you for all you have done this year to protect pregnant women and their children from harm. I hope you have a most blessed Christmas!
