President Donald Trump today met with a woman who survived an abortion and also with a boy who was born at 20 weeks and survived. He also met with pro-life advocate Alveda King, niece of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The president met with abortion survivor Melissa Ohden and Micah Pickering, the six-year-old son of a pro-life former congressman who was born very prematurely but survived and is doing well.
King told LifeNews she was delighted to meet with Trump, who she says is championing the pro-life cause in the White House.
“With his latest life affirming action today, on Valentine’s Day, President Trump shines light and hope for babies in the womb, and for those who are unjustly bound in other tenuous situations,” she said.Kiong said Trump reiterated his storng support for adoption over abortion.
“Considering the huge fiascoes and lies about abortion being a reproductive right, with New York and Virginia endorsing infanticide, President Trump’s adoption response today is yet another sanctity of life gain.”
“Let’s do something different today. Let’s pray for America, and join President Trump in his compassion for the least of these exemplified in his speech today. Let’s choose adoption as an option to abortion. Let’s insist that our elected officials vote no on infanticide,” she told LifeNews. After the meeting, President Trump spoke on a national pro-life conference call with hundreds of top pro-life advocates around the country. During the call, the president talked about his comments during the State of the Union Address condemning both the New York law legalizing abortions up to birth as well as Virginia Governor Ralph Northam who promoted infanticide during a radio interview.
Trump told pro-life Americans from the Oval Office today: “Thank you very much and I want to thank all the 1,000s of pro-lifers and pro-life leaders, pastors, families and advocates for joining this call and for working with such love and devotion to build a culture that cherishes human life.”
“Recently, our country has witnessed a chilling disregard for life as some states have taken up legislation that would legalize abortion up until just moments before a child’s birth,” the White House said about the call. “President Trump and his administration are committed to defending and protecting the gift of life.”Ohden criticized Virginia lawmakers for supporting late-term abortions and even infanticide earlier this year, pointing to her life as an example of why their legislation is so horrific.
Speaking with The Daily Caller, Ohden explained how she survived a late-term abortion when her mother was seven months pregnant with her. Later, she learned that her young mother had been forced into the abortion, and still deeply regrets not doing more to try to save her life.
She criticized Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam for supporting infanticide after he said earlier this week that doctors and women could have a discussion about whether to leave a disabled newborn baby to die.
