Action Still Needed on S382 - Please join us in Trenton on Monday, January 11, 2016

from Marie Tasy, Executive Director
New Jersey Right to Life

We still need your help!

First, we wish to thank all our friends who came down to Trenton yesterday to speak to their Senators and urge them to vote against S382 if it comes up for a vote. It was a very productive day.

Even though the Senate has not yet posted S382 for a vote, we should not be complacent. There is still a chance that the NJ Senate may take up A2270/S382, the Physician Assisted Suicide bill on Monday, January 11, 2016. This is the last day of the Lame Duck Legislative Session. If the bill doesn't get voted on in the Senate by January 11, it automatically expires. If the bill dies in this legislative session in NJ, it will stifle our opponents' momentum not only here, but in other states where they are trying to ram this dangerous legislation through! The bill can get reintroduced in the new legislative session which means it will be assigned a new bill number, and have to go through the entire legislative process all over again. If the bill dies in this legislative session, it will be a significant victory for us. Please help us make this happen!

At this time, we are asking you do the following:
1. Please continue to email and call your State Senator and urge him/her to vote No on A2270/S382. Please do this even if you have contacted them previously. Please share this alert with 10 friends and family members and ask them to take the suggested action in this email as well. Please be sure to both email and call your State Senator. You can send a pre-written email message directly by clicking on the "Take Action" prompt. below.

2. Please also plan to join us at the State House on Monday, January 11, 2016. We need bodies down in the State House. Please plan to come down and bring 4 or 5 friends with you! In order to get a parking spot, it is advisable that you meet us at 10:00 a.m. in the State House Cafteria. We will be handing out stickers to put on your clothing which identifies our opposition to S382.
Please find out who your Senator is before you come down. The goal is to speak to them and inform them you are a constitutent. Urge them to vote No on A2270/S382. You should also tell them you do not want to fund physician assisted suicide with your tax dollars. To learn how your tax dollars will fund it read the article here. You can find who your senator is by going here and filling in your zip code.

We will meet in the State House cafeteria by 10 a.m. We will hand out stickers and then proceed through the halls to stand outside the 12 noon Senate voting session about a half hour before it begins (around 11:30 a.m).

The goal is for Senators to see there is significant opposition to the passage of this bill. Please plan to speak to your Senator and urge him/her to Vote No on A2270/S382. You can find your Senator by going here and filling in your zip code.

We will keep you informed of any new developments or changes in schedule.
