Happy Mother's Day from PRI

By PRI Staff
For all mothers who know the feeling of the first embrace after birth…Who know the joy of helping their babies take their first steps…Or know what it’s like to wipe away their every tear…For mothers who let go on the first day of school…Or who know what it feels like at the end of a long day’s work of providing or caring for their family…Or for women who have struggled with infertility or the loss of one of their own…
We at the Population Research Institute want to say thank you to all women who have embraced the gift of motherhood. Mothers make the family a place where love and compassion resides. They give life to us all and for that reason all mothers have the right to be honored, respected, and cherished.

Sadly, in many parts of the world, even to this day, mothers are deprived of this right. That’s why we at PRI continue to fight China’s planned birth policies, which deny mothers their right to bear more than two children. That is why we will continue to speak out about coercive and forced abortion and sterilization wherever it occurs. That is why we have provided solutions for mothers in the Caribbean in crisis pregnancies with our recently opened Family Care Center in St. Lucia, which provides essential medical and emotional support for expectant mothers.

Nothing can replace joys of motherhood—all of the joys—from feeling the very first movements, to bringing a unique and brand new soul into the world through childbirth, to a child’s first smile, first word, first toddler-sized hug! These are joys that all women should have the right to experience, and as many times as they choose.

All of us here at PRI wish you a

Blessed and Happy Mother’s Day
