In his latest book, Ship of Fools, cable TV host Tucker Carlson addresses some of the foolish claims of abortion industry backers. For instance, Carlson notes that “None is more rigid than the feminist orthodoxy surrounding abortion.”
He points out a telling example: In January of 2017, a group known as New Wave Feminists signed on as one of the sponsors of the Women’s March. The group seemed to meet the basic criteria: they were female and feminist. However, they also opposed abortion, so organizers of the march revoked their credentials. So much for diversity!
Carlson quotes abortion backer Roxane Gay who said, “Intersectional feminism does not include a pro-life agenda...The right to choose is a fundamental part of feminism.”
But Carlson deftly points out that early feminists such as Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony were actually pro-life. They called abortion “the murder of children” and “infanticide.”
Yet today a number of feminist groups deny the basic humanity of the preborn child. For instance, EverydayFeminism.com said “Abortion isn’t a bad thing, so we shouldn’t be talking about it like it is.” This statement is false on its face, since every abortion ends the life of an innocent, vulnerable human being.
Carlson points out a number of inconsistencies of the pro-abortion movement. For example, regarding sex selection abortions, Carlson writes, “If you believed your job was to defend women, you’d be bothered by that.”
The true defender of women is the pro-life movement, which empowers women every day to make life-affirming decisions for themselves and their families. The wise choice is the choice for life!
The Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation is a grassroots right-to-life organization with members statewide. As the state affiliate of National Right to Life, PPLF is committed to promoting the dignity and value of human life from conception to natural death and to restoring legal protection for preborn children.
