House Speaker Paul Ryan says upcoming legislation to repeal the Obamacare health care law would cut off taxpayer money to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s biggest abortion company.
“The Planned Parenthood legislation would be in our reconciliation bill,” Ryan said.Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser told LifeNews she is encouraged by Speaker Ryan’s commitment.
“Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion provider, performing over 300,000 abortions per year. Today’s commitment by Speaker Ryan to re-direct the abortion giant’s taxpayer funding to community health centers is a victory for women’s health care. Community health centers provide far more services than Planned Parenthood and outnumber them 20 to 1 nationwide.
We commend Speaker Paul Ryan on his continued resolve to fund women’s health care, not abortion. His pro-life, pro-woman resolve is shared by Majority Leader McConnell and President-elect Trump, and we are confident Congress will get this important legislation to the President’s desk for his signature after the inauguration.“Polling in 2018 Senate battleground states shows that voters support re-directing Planned Parenthood’s funding to community health centers. Vulnerable pro-abortion Democratic Senators need to do a serious gut check, especially following the 2016 election outcome, and decide if they will stand with their constituents and women’s health care or continue to funnel money to big abortion.”
